Beat Station is a rhythm machine designed for musicians to practice, produce, and perform. It offers realistic drum sounds, a vast library of drum loops across various genres, and multiple modes for controlling song sections. It aims to provide the functionality of a live drummer without needing one.
Key features include 6 ultra-realistic drum sets, over 1700 drum loops in 136 rhythm styles, three distinct control modes (Loop, Pedal, and Song), and support for Bluetooth MIDI pedalboards for hands-free operation. It also offers Inter-App Audio, background audio playback, and the ability to export songs as audio files.
The app offers a subscription model called Beat Station Pro. This subscription provides access to all genres of rhythm, unlimited projects, audio export, and MIDI output. It is available for $2.99 USD per month or $22.99 USD per year. Payment is handled through your Apple ID, and subscriptions can be managed or canceled in your App Store account settings.
The app supports Inter-App Audio and Audio background mode, suggesting compatibility with iOS devices that support these features. It also integrates with Ableton Link and has full MIDI implementation, allowing it to connect with DAWs and other music production software and hardware.
Beat Station can be used in several ways. For practice, it serves as a metronome and drum accompaniment. For production, you can create complete drum tracks by connecting rhythm patterns in Song Mode and export them as audio files. For live performance, the Pedal Mode with a Bluetooth MIDI pedalboard allows for hands-free control of song sections, acting like a versatile drummer accompanying you.
