New App 2026 is a step backwards

Used the App regularly for local news, but an update in Feb 26 has made the text in user interface a lot smaller, which is harder to read on a phone screen, particularly when you are scanning the news index.

Spel Tel issue

The above puzzle isn’t recording any win history on the updated app

Excellent news app

Excellent news app with the latest news. Easy to navigate and no annoying ads.

Decent for accessing news content, but with a few frustrating recurring issues.

The app seems to work mostly fine once loaded, however seems to use a non-standard scrolling speed which I find quite jarring when switching from any other app that behaves normally. More annoying though, is that this app WILL NOT remember my cookie preferences. I have declined additional cookies pretty much every time I open this app, but my preferences are never stored, and I need to decline again and again each day. I bet if I agreed I’d never be asked again, but this is a frustrating operation to have to go through every time. Also, loads of ads, but that’s pretty standard for any news app these days.

Why repeated need to agree T&Cs

I pay a subscription and originally agreed T&Cs . Recently I now need to agree the conditions every time I open the app. Unnecessary!

Quality news app except for ads

A lot of good and varied journalism but it would be better without the ads

App Not Working Properly

As a fully paid up premium member I struggle to get access on the app. It doesn’t seem to recognise that I am paid up.

Content great but app keeps freezing

Rarely can get through an article without the app freezing and then jumping back to the beginning of the article. Very frustrating

Accessible Enough But Some Accessibility Has Room for Improvement

The app is really accessible, but as someone who is paralysed from the neck down, I always use my iPad in landscape because it’s easier, so if viewing in landscape mode could be added, that would be great.

Slow & Spend

This used to be one of the best apps for local news. Unfortunately since being updated the app is now slow and about 80% of the news stories are now classed as Premium Content, which requires a monthly subscription of Β£7.99 a month. Belfast Live is much better now and free.

Terrible

This app has now been updated and I’m serious consider deleting it. All the news is now premium and unless you pay you get nothing. Time to rely on Belfast live

Best source of news for Ireland and UK

I find myself visiting the Belfast Telegraph several times a day as they are the most proactive source for breaking news across every aspect of daily life in the north of Ireland and the UK . I live in Australia and I love the fact that there is no fee to access current news and it is constantly being refreshed . Respect and Thanks

Good app

It's nice to have this without having Facebook
The really good thing about this is no people's options can be posted πŸ‘

Disappointing

Type in the app name in the Apple App Store search bar and yes, you get the hit. Tap on it and you get another app! Had to search for it on the iPhone, email it to myself and pick it up on the iPad and then tap the link in order to locate and install it!

Where is the crossword, death notices etc on the new app? No ability to read the paper full-page as in the previous app which was far superior.

Good but lots of ads..

Downloaded and tested, app seems thought through, I like the way to manage content and bookmark it. Some comments below:

Tutorial - text could be bigger/more visible, a bit tiny at the bottom of page now.

The bad things - it just throws ads and sponsored links at you in every possible place and as my browser adblock does not work inside a different app obviously..
I'm back to normal browsing if you cannot remove ads from the app. A pity as I do like it a lot!
