What's New in Bell Rung

2.0

June 11, 2026

What's New in 2.0 A major audio quality and reliability update. New features • Microphone passthrough has a new gain slider for fine control over input level. • Cycle timer is always visible in the top-left corner — it now shows al the time in always-on mode, the live countdown during cycles, or "Not Playing" when stopped. • New ⓘ button in the top-left links to the privacy policy and hearing-safety information. • Background audio playback — sound continues when your screen locks. Major audio fixes • Pink and brown noise now play correctly balanced in both ears. Previously the right ear was getting white noise instead of the actual filtered noise. • Microphone passthrough now routes properly through your headphones. Previously it was forced to the built-in speaker even when AirPods or wired headphones were connected. • Tone frequencies now play at the exact pitch shown on the slider. Previously they were playing about 9% sharp on most iPhones. • No more crackles or pops when switching between sound types. • Vibration and Flashlight toggles now take effect immediately when you flip them mid-cycle, instead of waiting for the next ON phase. • Microphone and music now properly go silent during the OFF phase of a cycle (previously they kept playing). Smarter audio routing • Playback automatically pauses when you unplug your AirPods or wired headphones. • Playback automatically pauses for phone calls, Siri, and other audio interruptions, and resumes when they end. • Better Bluetooth headset support, including AirPods and other devices that route through HFP or A2DP. Polish & UX • White Noise is now the default sound on launch (previously was Tone). • Sound type buttons reorganized: White, Pink, Brown on the top row; Tone, Music, Mic on the bottom row. • Cycle timer no longer pushes the rest of the UI down when you tap Play. • Smoother countdown animation. • Vibration is now driven by the system haptic engine for a smoother, more consistent feel during cycles. Under the hood • Audio engine rebuilt for thread safety and stability. • Matches your iPhone's native audio rate for cleaner, more efficient playback. • Improved memory cleanup so the app behaves better in the background and during long sessions. Thanks for using Bell Rung. As always, please use safe volumes, and headphones for microphone mode. Dedicated to my hard of hearing homies, Marc and Bruce.

User reviews

Works great, straightforward interface

I’m a veteran, and I suffer from tinnitus. It’s been difficult to find any sort of treatment that works. This app gets the symptoms to subside so that I can concentrate. I use it every day!

Simple but works.

It helps, I can see what they are talking about. Surprised this wasn’t already a thing.
