Brilliant!

Don’t know why these games aren’t promoted more in the App Store. Great storyline, funny, good level of difficulty. Everything a point & cluck should be. Only complaint is there aren’t more of them.

Way too short

I have purchased every Mystery Caper game available and while nearly each previous game was worth the cost, this one sadly is not. It’s conversation heavy without enough action/object interaction and is entirely too short for the price. I hope the next installment aims much higher.

So so good. It makes complete sense that they’re mystery writers.

This has quickly become my new favorite point and click studio, and I’ll buy whatever they release.

I love this game for the same reasons I loved Yestertide. The puzzles, writing, and atmosphere.

The puzzles are challenging and organic to the story. This seems like it would be really difficult to pull off but they did it again. The only gripe was that I thought this was much easier than Yestertide and I was finished much faster.

The writing is clever and funny, I again found myself trying every combination of actions not because I didn’t know what to do but because I wanted to see the text.

Atmosphere was engaging and transporting. The lighting, the music stings, the characters, all great.

Slight spoiler:
I accidentally solved the sundial, but don’t know what the actual solution was.

Not as good as their other games

I found this game a bit frustrating because it seemed the hardest part was finding the items you needed. The puzzles themself weren’t too difficult. I also found that getting the game in instalments meant I lost track of the story, and who was who. I also found the game quite short, and the ending abrupt, and unsatisfying. Still, I do like the quirky nature of the story.

Always tons of fun!

Really enjoyed this game and all of this developer’s games. They’re well written, and the solutions make you think but are always logical. I recommend checking out Yestertide too if you liked this game, but their whole catalogue is very worth playing!

Fantastic as usual

I’ve played all the Mystery Caper games, most at least twice, and they’re all excellent. That said, I think they get even better with each new release — the nav in Bested is the smoothest yet and doesn’t require excessive backtracking. The puzzles are largely intuitive while remaining challenging, which is a delicate balance that Sherban achieves consistently but refines still further here. The writing, as always, is clever, funny, and polished; the lack of distracting copy errors warms my heart. Excited to see the next installment in this universe! In the meantime, I’ll eagerly wait to forget the solutions so I can replay this one. It’s clear these games are a labor of love, and it makes them all the more enjoyable. Bonus points, too, for being so responsive in the hint forum!

I freak out every time there is a new MysteryCaper adventure! They are fun and the illustrations are amazing. I hate the adventure games that are so dark the whole way through. I am waiting anxiously for chapter 3!

Challenging and great adventure game

I ordered Chapter 1 when it came out since I know these devs produce quality adventure games. Great modern graphics, fun dialogue, sometimes very challenging. Like old-style adventure games, you need to try every permutation in conversations including asking about every item in your inventory. That sometimes gets tiresome, but it often results in a clue to move forward. Gotta think outside the box often. Despite promises, I was expecting Chapter 2 to be late - but it wasn’t! Thank you so much for sticking to your timeline of releases. I replayed Chapter 1 and am enjoying 2.

Just this time, though, here’s a quick hint - ** SPOILERS ** You’re right, you can’t actually offer him the flowers. But now that you have his name you can use it in conversation with someone else on the intercom.

Always worth it to buy their games

Mystery Caper has yet to put out a game that I regretted spending money on. These are some of the best story based puzzle adventure games available to IOS and they never disappoint. I wish they would have released the whole game this is time like they usually do, but I understand they wanted to get out one chapter to see how people liked it and that these things take time. I am wondering if you have a date for the next two chapters to be released and if the price I paid when I downloaded the game included all chapters or if I will have to pay two more additional times for chapters two and three seeing as the first chapter was a little short. Let me know if possible!

Thanks for the great review. You absolutely get the other two chapters of Bested at no additional charge; all three chapters are included when you buy. You don't need to do anything special to get them. Each chapter will be part of an update. That's one of the things we're excited about with this new pricing model. It allows us to bring the game out quicker and offer a discount on the full game for early adopters (more of a discount the earlier you buy). Details on this are available under Help > Chapters in the game or on our What's New page on our website. We're looking to release Chapter 2 at the end of this month, with Chapter 3 to follow a month or so after 2.

There’s nothing like them!

I buy a lot of these types of games and I am always looking for new to play but Mystery Caper are simply the best. I love getting lost in another of their exciting, funny and challenging scenarios! I check the mysterycaper website for updates on the next instalment and I was so happy to hear that we have this new series and we will be getting the chapters quicker than usual! How exciting! This instalment had the expected charm, quirky scenes and previous game Easter eggs as the rest of their games and was such a pleasure to play! Extremely looking forward to parts 2&3! You’ve made a masterpiece yet again but I am not surprised!

I feel so lucky, another game so soon after the magnificent beast of bodkin hall , you guys are amazing! The pricing structure is fab and very very generous for the early buy option. I’ve only just started this game and of course I’m loving it already, I will review more on completion but I’m thrilled to see another edition by this excellent team, a million thank yous,as I miss this game world when not playing as it seems to relax me so much during such crazy times. Mystery caper is killing it as always! I have played all of their games and I must say this is by far my favorite already. I really love how this one has different chapters which is something MysteryCaper has not done before. As usual, the animation is so unique and fun. The dialog is always so entertaining. Each character has their own personality, even the character you play as. So much has happened already in just the first chapter that has released, I can't wait to see what's next. If you love problem solving, interesting storylines and witty characters, give this game a try!
