This app is super user-friendly. After setting up your profile, you can scan away and start racking up points to redeem for prizes. And if the item you scan isn’t in the system, you can submit it for review and they’ll get back to you in 24 hours. (I’ve already done it twice.)

Used to work well, but now useless
I am no longer able to use the camera to scan barcodes with this app. I am presented with an option to go to the iOS Settings app to provide access to the camera to the BetterBin app, but there’s no such option presented when I go there. Stalemate!
UPDATE 9 July 2025:
After an app update today, I was hopeful that the major bug mentioned above had been fixed, but nope still there 11 month later. COME ON! Get this fixed!

Great Idea
This app has a great idea, but when I open the app there’s no barcode to scan an item. The only options are learning about recycling “communities” in your area. When I say area, there are eight states to choose from. So absolutely useless.

Great when it works
Great resource for what can be placed in community compost and what cannot. Problem is it stopped working and will not load. I usually use it without signing in. One day, I wanted to sign in so I could try a different feature. I forgot my password and went thru the steps to follow a link sent in an email to reset PW then went back to the App but it was stuck on the “forgot PW” page and there was no button to go back or sign in with my newly reset PW. I let it rest for a day then went back into it and signed in. It took me to a blank plain white page with no buttons or options. Now it is totally useless. I just get a blank screen.
