Why?

Why though? What’s the point of this app? It’s not a game, it’s clearly ai slop. I can’t believe I wasted my time even downloading this.

Undercooked with no player agency

3 month update: “Training” a player seems to have no effect except to you not fired. On top of that, “train” seems to reset at odd times, so while you might “train” the player on the day of their match, it may reset prior to when their match is scheduled.

I mean, don’t call this a game, this is a barely a visual novel made in twine.

—————————
Despite recent updates, the rest of this review is still mostly relevant. They have added new games for reaction timing and tennis trivia.

This will probably get lost in a sea of fake 5-Star reviews… or not even be viewable - noting that neither my review nor the 3-Star rating review are shown in the App Store.

I’ve been ‘playing’ this for 2 weeks. Big name behind it, so I thought I’d give it a go. But all the coaching chat is predefined phrases and probably predefined responses, the training component is just ‘giving a temporary boost to the category’, the only gameplay you see right now is to spin a wheel and hope the wheel stops at a high number of training points.

I get that AO was a good time to launch this, but maybe wait till next year when you have more tennis gameplay related content. Generally speaking a mobile game will have Strategy, and/or timing, and/or learned skill that affects some aspect of the game, I mean catharsis for players of games is player agency, this app has none of that, it’s just a word soup.

I doubt any game developers worked on this. This feels more like the marketing team “branching out” without doing any market research. There are much better Tennis Management/coaching sims available.

Anyway, I’ll keep messing with the app, and see if anything changes. I can waste 5 mins per day (yes the maximum possible gameplay is 5 mins or less per day) to check if anything changes with the content, but it’s so bland that they’d need to overhaul how they approached conceptualising the gameplay and player agency (… or I guess maybe start considering it…).

Worst game ever.

I wrote a review for this and it was deleted. This is complete garbage. Everyone involved in the creation of this app should be fired. Yes- it’s that bad. Having prime time broadcast television commercials for this is absolutely mad.

Cool Graphics

Fantastic. The graphics are out of this world!! The players look so realistic that sometimes I forget they are AI 😲.
