Top reviews

It’s an all in one.

Love it, impressed. It has a variety of different Translations, commentary, & even Cross References. This app is truly a great resource. 🥰

The app is good

Overall, this is a decent Bible app, the primary reason I downloaded it was because it carried the 1984 NIV Bible, which I think is a reason that many users wanted to download this app. However, I did download Bible portal in 2024, I was lucky enough to download the app on both my iPad and on my cell phone to get the version that still carries the 1984 NIV Bible, And recently they have stopped producing it on this app. I’m not sure why, but I wish and hope that they would consider returning back to it. For its usage on my device devices, it has helpful, cross-references, several different Bible translations, I wish that they would add some other ones like the NASB, the NET, the LSB, and several others, but overall the app is useful, there are a couple of Spelling errors where there are several missing verses in the 1984 NIV, Bible, for example, revelation 2:25-27, one of the verses is mission on the app

Great content but weak UI

App renders differently in portrait and landscape mode. The entire text of a chapter doesn’t get displayed. This is a dealbreaker for any serious reader of scripture.

The Best Bible Study App!

One of my favorite bible apps. Thank you good friends at BiblePortal!

Young's Literal Translation would be a welcome addition.

One Notable Problem

I would love the app and I would rate it higher. However, the commentaries and Scriptures are NOT completely seen, only showing portions and not the whole. Please fix this soon! Thanks!

Yay for NIV84...almost

I was really happy to find a Bible app that included the NIV84. However, it is not fully accurate. Psalm 34 on this app, for example, uses many words and phrases that are different from the NIV84. It's a little frustrating that the translation is not reliable verse by verse. Can this be fixed please?

very good bible app

very good bible app, use it everyday

Not entirely NIV1984

While reading through Romans, it suddenly shifted (in chapter 10) from NIV1984 to some other version, and it remained that way through the end of the letter. I have no idea how many other parts of this app will do the same. I contacted the developer by email and they never responded.

Great, with some bugs

Love the app.
When reading commentaries and a verse is cited, you can click on the verse (which is underlined) and a pop-up will appear with the scripture; However, you can’t scroll down to read the verse. It only allows you to see a preview of the verse (like one sentence).
Thats the only issue I’ve come across.

Excellent Devotional Resource

This app is wonderful. The variety of Bible text versions serves the reader well. Moreover, Bible Portal may well be the only Bible app that offers the NIV 84 text. Well done, Christian Post. Thank you for this invaluable tool.

Complete Bible Study

This app and website have it all. Everything at your fingertips and a wealth of information. Thank you for a great resource since 2003.

Audio Needed

Great app. Like the 1984 version but I listen to audio a lot so probably won’t use as often. Please consider adding audio.

Great commentary and devotionals

I primarily use this app for the devotionals, but the available free commentaries are also great and a couple of them may even be unique to this app. The only real inconvenience is the verse reference at the bottom of a devotional doesn’t take me to the Bible passage. That would be a nice feature.

Commentaries problem

The commentaries on iPhone suddenly get message “something went wrong. This is the screen your users will see in production when an error is thrown. You’ll want to customize this message (located in ‘app/i18n/en.json’) and probably the layout as well (‘app/screens/error’). If you want to remove this entirely, check ‘app/app.thx’ for the <ErrorBoundary> component. TypeError:undefined is not an object (evaluating ‘j.data.length’) When I reset app it goes back to Bible passage.

My preferred translation

Why does it not have complete chapters?

Evidently, it does not show complete chapters (on longer chapters). Trying to read I Corinthians 9 and it stops after verse 22. Also, just to get to that chapter, I had to navigate to chapter 7 and then swipe through 8 and then 9. The navigation pane skips from 7 to 12. I do not see a way to check for updates. Can you please fix this?

Thankful

Thabkful for the 1984 NIV,it seems that every newer translation especially newer ones since 2000 have continued to water down and add “Woke generation” edits that truly obscure the content, Thanks🙏🏻.

Great bible app

Great for all Christians who wants to study in depth

Has one of my favorite no longer printed translations

I really like having the 1984 edition of the NIV in an app. Plus, it is a really well executed app, I only have a few desires and suggestions.

It would be great if the verse of the day could be sent via a push notification, and also be available as a widget

It would also be awesome if they had a darker night mode, that would have a black background with white text. On the topic of text, another open source, free font that I would suggest is the font Bitter!

These are minor preferences, and certainly aren’t going to deter me from keeping using this! Thank you Bible Portal!
