About
See familiar Scripture from a fresh angle.
Bible with Original Names is the mobile reader for The Way Version (TWV), an English Bible for people who want to look more closely at the names, language, and historical setting behind familiar passages.
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT
• Names in historical context. Names are presented in forms based on the language and setting in which they were most likely known. Depending on the person and passage, that may mean a Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek form.
• Familiar English names anytime. Prefer forms such as Jesus, John, or Andrew? Switch the reader to familiar English names in Settings.
• Pronunciation help built in. Tap supported names to see a practical pronunciation guide and hear the name spoken.
• Search the names you already know. Search familiar English names and find the corresponding passages.
• Choose how the text updates. The project is maintained openly through GitHub. Receive published text updates as the translation develops, or keep the version of the text you received.
• Follow a collaborative work in progress. TWV continues to develop through research, review, and feedback from researchers, casual readers and observers, faith organizations, and other contributors.
• Read offline and make it yours. Highlight passages, bookmark verses, write private notes, adjust reading settings, and share passages.
THE WAY VERSION
The Way Version is for readers who are curious about the names, language, and context behind the text, without giving up the familiarity of an English Bible.
The app does not assume every biblical name belongs to the same source language. Names are selected according to the historical and linguistic context of each person or passage, with Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek forms used where appropriate. You can switch back to familiar English forms whenever you prefer.
TWV is a work in progress. Editorial decisions and significant changes are documented openly, and the project continues to improve through collaboration and feedback.
The goal is not to replace familiar names or claim certainty where the historical record is uncertain. It is to give curious readers another way to engage the Bible and dig a little deeper.
