Great content, app needs work
I’ve been a subscriber for about 10 years now and absolutely love the magazine. But the app, it’s been hit or miss over the years and is currently more of a miss. It crashes on my iPad Mini whenever I try to go to text view for an article and is just generally sluggish. Again, the content of the magazine is great! The app needs some work.

What’s all the 1 star hubbub about?
Good content, decent app. The app isn’t spectacular but functional and it is accessible with articles in both original magazine format and mobile optimized format. Best on tablet.

Can’t use the apps after update. I am using the old iOS version 12.5.7. Please help to solve the issue.
Great content, terrible app
The app is basically unusable. After zooming in, if you try to scroll to another part of the page, it zooms back out. Everything is jerky and slow, even on a current iPad Pro.

App is always crashing
The App is always crashing. If I try to read a magazine in my tablet (iPad Pro), sometimes (and this happens too many times) the App freeze after change the page.
Unusable
Don’t waste your time downloading this app. I can’t get it to work with ANYTHING. I am a digital subscriber to BAR but if I can’t use this app to access the magazine and library, what is the point of subscribing?
Articles not formatted for iPhone screens
This app just takes the print layout and digitizes it. You need to zoom and pan to read anything.
Does not load. Don’t buy…
After years of being a loyal subscriber, and trying to go digital with this app, it is terrible. Does not load, can’t zoom to read, or even go to the next page. nor is printing and option. Save your money….avoid.
Not able to update password
I do not recommend this app, and that does not concern its contents. The problem is that the app settings give you no way of updating or resetting your password, if you forget it. Since I forgot my password to access the app, it has been nearly two years since I am not able to read the magazine. The website does not help either. This is the only app that does not allow you to reset a password when it is forgotten. I will let the subscription run out and will not renew it. I have been wasting my money.

Cannot find Downloaded magazines
So I finally subscribed to the digital subscription. I love the archive section and being able to view any magazines at a click of a button. Unfortunately when I click on the downward arrow to download the article, the article clearly showing the download process but can’t seen to find it anywhere on my iPad Pro. After contacting Apple support they suggested to reach out the developer and resolve the issue directly with them. So is anyone else experiencing downloading issue such as not knowing where the downloaded files reside?

Terrible
Logged in fine, but when I try to access any sort of function it takes me to an instruction screen that will not close no matter what I tap. Impossible to read the magazine. I feel I got scammed
Needs overhaul
I love BAR but this app is abysmal. So many problems and bugs. Can’t use search unless you go to web version. Just a mess.
Don't let the low rating fool you
I subscribed to BAR in 1994 and I love this periodical. They have given me a year free digital subscription for renewing my subscription. I created my account with BAS, and I run this app on my iPhone and iPad. Apps on both devices work well. I will explore more and report back, but so far, where ever I have one of my devices (and the internet), I have every copy of BAR.
One last thing. If anything would make it better I would love to see the search engine work for subject searches, not just title searches. So, if I want to read articles about the book of Isaiah and archeology related to Isaiah, I just search for it.

The digital version is awful!
I have a subscription on another device and can’t even sign-in on a new device.
Cannot access
Paid for this through Apple. When I try to access, I cannot. I have not been able to access this for 6 months. Apparently I have a user name and password that I don’t know about and I do not know of a way to retrieve it. I like BAS a lot but I think I may subscribe to the magazine and not the digital version. I would rate higher if I could read the digital content...until then, 1 star because I cannot give 0 stars.

Disappointed
The website is a total mess, trying to get you to subscribe art every turn. Only a limited number of issues available on the tablet. When trying to access older articles the site directs to subscribe. Could not access even from web browser when logged into my account.
5 stars for content, 3 stars for app
As a student, having access to the content digitally it great! The app currently works for me, although its interface could use some polish.

Very Poor
I paid the subscription only to obtain an article from 1983. But the App keeps sending me back in a never ending loop.

Horrible Navigation
This app is worthless. I have logged on and subscribed to everything, but it does not allow me to search. It keeps asking me to log on.
Doesn’t work!
I just subscribed, and the app keeps telling me to subscribe. “Restoring the purchase” does NOTHING. Please fix this. Why don’t you folks test the app before you put it on the App Store? Reading all the other reviews makes it clear that you broke the app in your latest update. I wish I had read them BEFORE I subscribed. Please fix ASAP.
