About

No ads, no in-app purchases, and no data collection. Just fast, real-time train information. Check live Irish Rail departures, track delays, and save your favourite stations and journeys in seconds. Open any station to see what’s due, what’s late, and what’s next. Save your go-to stations, create schedules for regular trips, and keep your next train close with Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. Saved schedules can now include a destination station, so widgets can show trains for the journey you actually want, not just every train in one direction. Transfer journeys are supported too, so trips that need a change can still appear clearly in the app and widgets. Use the live map to see where trains are right now across the network. Tap a train to see what it is, or tap a station to open the departures board. If you’re offline, or live data isn’t available, Big Train switches to an Offline Timetable view so you still see scheduled departures. It automatically returns to live updates when real-time data comes back. Apple Watch and iPad are fully supported. You can also send your saved iPhone schedule to Apple Watch from the More tab. Use Spotlight to search a station name and open it instantly, and use Siri/Shortcuts for quick actions like Next Train, Live Departures, and service alerts.

What's New in Big Train

2.2.0

June 11, 2026

This update improves schedules, widgets, transfers, and Apple Watch support. Saved schedules now support destination stations, so journeys like Connolly to Howth can load automatically on app start and show correctly in widgets. Transfer journeys are now supported in the Current tab and widgets, so routes like Howth to Malahide can be shown even when a change is required. You can now manually sync your iPhone schedule to your Apple Watch from the More tab. Transfer logic has also been improved to choose more sensible transfer stops, alongside smaller UI improvements and bug fixes.
