About
A worn chain does not break. It quietly files down the cassette, and then a new chain skips on the old teeth and you buy both. This app exists to stop that happening: it tells you how far your chain has stretched and the date you should swap it.
It is not a maintenance logbook with a countdown in it. It is a wear model, and it learns your chain.
HOW THE MODEL WORKS
• It starts from your setup: drivetrain speeds, lube regime, the conditions you actually ride in, system weight, and whether a motor is pushing on the chain.
• Every ride is stored with its conditions. A wet century wears a chain roughly twice as fast as a dry one; a muddy ride, nearly three times. Those rides count for more.
• Then you measure. Read a chain checker — 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0 — and the app compares the reading with what it predicted. After a couple of readings the wear rate is yours, not a table's.
WHAT YOU GET
• Chain wear now, as a percentage, against the limit for your drivetrain: 0.5% from 11-speed up, 0.75% below.
• A projection curve for the next six months, with the replacement line and the cassette line drawn on it.
• One decision with a date on it: how much riding is left, roughly how many days that is, and what waiting costs.
• Re-lube and re-wax distances that shorten in the wet, so the interval matches the weather rather than a fixed number of kilometres.
• Chain rotation: retire a chain, fit another, put the first back on later. Each keeps its own history.
• Several bikes in one garage, each with its own drivetrain and its own chain.
• Trends: day streak, last seven days, this month, conditions ridden, and a monthly calendar of rides and lube.
• Challenges every day, week and month, plus 80 badges for the habits that actually keep a chain alive — measuring it, lubing on time, swapping before the cassette pays for it.
HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT IS
The number is an estimate built from how you ride, and a chain checker corrects it. It does not read your drivetrain through the camera and it does not pretend to. It works offline, keeps everything on your device, and asks for no account.
Kilometres or miles, your choice. Everything is calculated the same way underneath.
