Powerful resource with more potential

Thanks to Graphisoft for assisting in a timely way to address our recent problem with AC29 BIMx files — now resolved. The new update has noticeable improvements.

BIMx and Archicad are integral to our firm’s success. Our clients are blown away when they see our ‘Virtual Twin’ models of their homes on the /Vision Pro.

Improvement suggestion:
We use BIMx Issues on iPads in the field to record our punch list issues, with attached photos and model views to produce these complicated reports more efficiently. Would be ideal if BIMx could export to pdf file to make the results more accessible to our colleagues who don’t use Archicad.

Response from developer

Hi, thanks for your report. Please try the latest BIMx version we just released. It includes bug fixes and several new features. If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to contact us at bimx@graphisoft.com!

missed potential

On Vision Pro it only supports rotation in immersive mode, which is very limiting because you can’t walk into the space and also makes you sick. It’s really a missed opportunity Vision Pro is just a perfect product to do immersive property. Please update and I will happily give five stars.

Update: the developer have now responded that immersion is already available using the walk icon. It seems they misunderstood my feedback, and one of the core aspects of VR, I am not talking about moving with a button, the whole point of Vision Pro is 6DOF spatial freedom, I should be able to just walk and move my head to change perspective, like every other spatial app and the built in 3D model quick look.

Response from developer

Hi, good news: you can easily walk in full immersion. Just pinch and select the walk icon after entering immersion. You can also control walk speed and jump between pre-saved views using the bookmark icon. Any questions, feel free to contact us at bimx@graphisoft.com!

Astounding that shows future of architecture, usability needs improvement.

The title says it all. I’d love to see a higher resolution sample model in the future. Usability is poor and is the only possible reason for any one star reviews. I could never let a client use this to see their project, they wouldn’t be able to figure out how to use it. Nevertheless kudos to Graphisoft for being the first to release an app like this for the Vision Pro. I’m sure usability will improve in the future. 04/2024

FAQ

What is BIMx?

BIMx is an interactive application designed for exploring Building Information Modeling (BIM) projects and linked documentation. It allows users to visualize architectural designs with game-like navigation and access detailed BIM data.

What devices does BIMx support?

BIMx is currently supported on Apple Vision Pro (realityDevice). The navigation in the virtual model is experimental and will be fine-tuned for this platform.

Can I collaborate with others using BIMx?

Yes, BIMx facilitates collaboration by connecting construction sites with architect offices. Features like real-time model cut-throughs, on-site measuring, and project markups enable streamlined communication and feedback.

How does BIMx link 2D and 3D information?

BIMx features a 'hyper-model' that links the 3D model with relevant 2D documentation layouts. This allows users to seamlessly view the 3D cutaway model within the context of a 2D layout, and vice versa, with interactive markers.

Is BIMx free to use?

Yes, BIMx is available for free. There are no in-app purchases or advertisements mentioned in the provided data.

What kind of BIM data can I access in BIMx?

You can access element-level BIM data within the application. This includes project and building component-related information, providing a comprehensive understanding of the design.

How often is BIMx updated?

The latest version of BIMx is 2024.5791, last updated on October 29, 2024. This indicates a relatively frequent update cycle for the application.

What is the age rating for BIMx?
