Added IUCN conservation status information to help you better understand each species’ global conservation level. Improved location support when recording and identifying birds, making sightings easier to organize by place. Improved the reliability and overall experience of photo-based bird identification. Can I identify birds offline with BirdTrace?
Yes, BirdTrace offers offline bird identification. You can select or capture a bird photo and use its on-device model for identification without a continuous internet connection, making it ideal for outdoor use.
How many bird species does BirdTrace cover?
BirdTrace 2.0 includes a global BirdDex that covers 11,171 bird species worldwide. Users can search by common or scientific name and browse taxonomic information for each species.
What kind of information is available for each bird species?
Species pages in BirdTrace provide bilingual (Chinese and English) information including identification, appearance, habitat, distribution, behavior, diet, breeding habits, and taxonomy. The depth of information may vary by species.
Does BirdTrace track conservation status?
For bird species found in China, BirdTrace displays conservation labels such as National First-Class Protected Wildlife and National Second-Class Protected Wildlife, along with other nationally protected species categories.
How does BirdTrace help me build a bird collection?
You can save the birds you encounter as personal records within the app, gradually completing your own BirdDex. Each saved record contributes to your growing collection and documents your birdwatching journey.
Does BirdTrace have ads?
No, BirdTrace does not contain advertisements. The app is free to use and does not display any ads to its users.
