Don’t waste your money

First of all the app doesn’t allow a “try before you buy” option. And now I can see why. This over glorified google map app misses the mark in so many ways. 1.) when you set your course and get under way, your position on the map does not automatically move on the map as you progress. You need to constantly move the map to find your location. 2.) In bright sunlight the app randomly adjusts the brightness. It gets stuck on dark and the map is unreadable. It’s not the phone either. Why not just set it to the highest bright setting? Waze and Apple Maps do that. 3.). The legend for the navigation markers tends to be very confusing.

There needs to be a lot more work done on this app to refine it. This almost seems like a high school project.
For the time being I’m going back to my trusty 2025 Winnipesaukee paper navigation chart. Save $25.00 and get the free the State of NH Lake patrol chart.

Response from developer

There are a few relevant clarifications to respond with to this review: 1. The Bizer Navigator app does allow a "try before you buy" option giving any user an hour of use. 2. The Bizer Navigator app does track and adjust the zoom and position of the map while a user is underway. There are three modes: manual, track maintaining a north oriented map, and track and orient according to actual heading. These can be changed by tapping a tracking mode button which is always present on the main map screen. 3. The Bizer Navigator app does not randomly adjust brightness. Any brightness changes are driven by the device's brightness settings. Although a paper chart is always recommended while captaining a vessel, this app will complement other navigation resources by displaying one's actual location, which can be an invaluable when navigating Lake Winnipesaukee. In addition, the app can show the location of more than 800 points of interest (islands, marinas, restaurants, coves, points, public and gas docks, etc.) and suggest safe navigation routes to all of them.

Great app

Works great very easy to understand and is a big help!

Great App

Really makes navigation easy with lines to show you how to navigate through dangerous areas. Has MPH, auto zoom in and out based off speed, and auto rotate of the map. Unlike other navigation apps your location is towards the bottom of the screen which I love vs the middle of the screen where you see less of what’s ahead of you. Mainly use this for my jet ski so my kids know where they are and stay away from dangerous areas. Would be nice if they add additional features moving forward but for now it is well worth the price.

Very Detailed Maps!

Great map! It includes all the detailed needed to make navigating the lake so much easier. And how did you build that smart routing into the app? Very impressive.

WOW!!!

So ecstatic to have Brad Goodman's app udated for use again, after MANY years of request!

Thank you Stonegate Software!! Please keep up to date! 👍🏼

Overcharged

I just purchased the yearly access to the Bizer app, because we have used the map for years and love it. The price was stated as 24.99, and then I got a receipt saying I had paid 33.98?? Is there a way to get the excess refunded?
I would like to be able to save/plot a route, which I can’t find, but it is easier than pulling out the chart while underway. Night version would be very helpful!!

Good navigation aid, needs improvement

I've been a lifetime boater on Lake Winnipesaukee and have always used the Bizer navigation charts. This app seems like a natural extension to be able to use my iPhone with the recognized name. We have found it very helpful for navigating around the lake, but there are improvements that it needs. Honestly, I was hoping that those improvements would've been done over the winter, but they remain to be seen. which makes you wonder about the viability of this app long-term if the company is not dedicating development resources to improving the user experience.

You absolutely need to be able to save routes, which this app cannot do at this point. There's also no night mode, this is a big hindrance for using your phone for navigating at night because it destroys your night vision. Additionally, there's no way to change the orientation of the map while you're navigating. Many modern GPS apps allow you to choose showing north or the route at the top of the map, there is no option for this.

I call this a good first effort, but like I said, it absolutely needs development resources for improvement.

Great Electonic Version of Trusted Bizer Map

Grateful to have an online map of Lake Winnipesaukee. Easy to add in waypoints to get destination routes. Very helpful to have in Moultonborough area where there are many rocks!

Best app for the big lake

Ask any veteran laker and they will tell you not to go out on the lake without the Bizer navigator chart with you. I have found that this is the ONLY app that will show you where the unseen hazards are on the big lake. Other apps might show you where the black and red markers are, but I love that this app knows not to send you through dangerous areas like between pitch wood and stone dam island or between barndoor and little bar door islands. Great app! I won’t go on the water without it!

Want my money back

How small can you make the typeface that explains the *only* lake in the entire Interlakes region that the app covers is Lake Winnipesaukee???? And apparently you can bury that fact pretty deep in the App Store description!!! Newfound Lake? Squam Lake?
This is slimy and I want my money back.

How do I get it to change the map to where I am? (Fixed)

I used this today and the map did nor change when I traveled beyond the map view. I had to move the map myself. The developer responded with instructions! Click on the finger for compass mode I love having a GPS on my beloved Bizer map. Now all we need is tracking and night mode!!

Response from developer

Matawanakee There are three modes to the map that can be toggled by clicking the button below the zoom buttons on the bottom left. These modes are: - Manual (shows a finger icon) - You move the map manually - Track Bearing (shows a compass icon) - The map follows you keeping your course bearing at the top. - Track North Oriented (shows an ‘N’ icon) - The map follows you keeping the map oriented north. I will be adding in app help screens to make this more clear. I hope this helps. Thanks.
