They were three names for the same thing, and choosing between them meant deciding how well you knew a scene before you had started it. Now you rehearse, and the dial says how much of your own line stays on screen. Move it whenever you like, including in the middle of a scene. - Four stops: your full line, a hint, the first letter of every word, or nothing at all. Each one draws the shape of what you will see before you pick it. - First letters is the one actors have been doing on paper for years. The line keeps its rhythm, its punctuation and the letter every word starts on, and hands the words themselves back to you. - Peek works at every stop. Wherever the dial sits, the line you are on is one tap away. - Home says where your allowance stands, and your scenes sit under whatever you were last working on. Long lines carry across their own pauses now, so a period in the middle of a speech is just a breath. Plus a heap of blablabla you'll never see, whatever the dial says.
