This is SO COOL!

This is so intelligent. I used photos of text not even PDFs and it was able to detect the text in the IMAGE and black it out. Pure magic. It's also a beautiful app so I just enjoy using it. Love this

Fast and easy redaction

Great for quickly covering sensitive information and PII. Also good for focusing attention on what you want people to see.

Works perfectly

It picks up all text and really easy to use

Note for developers

It’s been great but I’m not able to report an issue, the app is crashing as soon as I select a photo

Abruptly quits

App abruptly quits for some photos or screenshots, please fix

Can only add 1 auto detect word - fixed

App is really neat, but after getting the extension, I am only able to add a single word. Would also love to see pdf support and would happily pay extra for it.

Edit: thanks for fixing the single word issue, and for fixing it so quickly. Found another one: the settings button doesn’t show up unless you grant access to photos, not sure if intentional, but nothing major. Bumped up to 5*.

Response from developer

Bah! Looks like I accidentally deleted the “add new word” button when I redid the settings section a few releases ago. I’ll get that fixed up ASAP. Thanks for the heads up!

Pretty good

Fantasic Privacy Utility

I often need to share redacted images of text with clients or employees, and Black Highlighter works like a dream for this - the snap to text feature makes everything clean and professional and I don't need to worry about exposing confidential information.

Doesn’t work

I can’t redact anything

Keeps blacking out the whole document.

It would be great if it would actually save my document. Go through all the effort to fix everything and then it just blacks out the whole page when it saves it.

Great and handy tool

Only used for the function of blackout/highlighting documents and seems quite effective as it can lock onto text keeping things very neat. Quick and easy to use! Nice work :)

Response from developer

Thanks for the compliment! Let me know if there’s anything I can do to make it even better. 🖤

Crashing

Trying to use it. Love it, but, it just keeps CRASHING

Crashes non-stop on iOS 13

UPDATE:
This appears to only happen with certain photos. On the photos where it works, it does a really good job. The app will show a shimmer animation over the text and will easily censor that text when you swipe over it. However, there are a couple photos which appear to cause the app to run out of memory and crash the app.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
This app doesn’t work on iOS 13. It crashes if I invoke it from the photo album and it hangs when I use the app directly.

Do not buy until they fix it.

Awesome!

It does what it claims to do. What differentiates it from just using “markup” in the photos app is the magic highlighter, which is awesome. Thanks!

Did not work as expected

Can only use in photos.. I thought is was usable in other apps.. did not work on pdf it email forwarding...

Slight issue

The app is great but needs to refresh and recognize all photos.

Garbage

App doesn’t give you access to all of your photos.

Needs something

I think this would be a great app, but it won’t acknowledge all my photos. I can have 100 photos in my camera roll, but when I get ready to upload one to edit, it only recognizes like...20 of them...and one of the ones it doesn’t recognize is the one I want to edit, which is most always a text shot. Which is counterproductive bc text is what it’s made to black out. If this problem is addressed I will be glad to change my review.
