Black Hills Badlands GyPSy User Reviews

Thought it would be “cheezy”... NOPE!

Yes there were lessons about some of the savory (and unsavory) parts of historical figures... but dang! Some of the spots he told us to stop were DEAD ON! Like why THAT particular rock for Mt Rushmore? Like why THAT spot for Pictures... and THIS spot for picnic! His timing was amazing!

Enjoy

Great way to tour the Black Hills

We decided to give this app a try on a whim, and it didn’t disappoint! Bob (we decided to name him day one since it was like having a personal tour guide in the back seat) took us to places we would have missed on our own. We followed all three of his loops through the Black Hills and I don’t think we missed a thing!

You can jump on and off any time, and take as little or as much time as you want to explore. Bob even knew when we needed to stop for a snack, and pointed out places for that too.

We spent 2 1/2 days in the Black Hills with Bob. I can’t imagine making the trip without him! Now I’ll look for guidance from Bob on every road trip we take! Totally worth the price.

South Dakota came to life

We just used this guide to the needles Highway, spearfish canyon and the iron mountain Highway. It gives you so much info. We will be using these guides where available from now on.

Awesome trip assistant!

We learned from another traveler on our first day in Yellowstone about his experience with this app, so we downloaded it that night. We used it on the next day, listening to the stories, site descriptions and the science, where to go, etc.. that day was so much more enjoyable.
Well, our next destination was to South Dakota and the Black Hills and Badlands. This area is pretty spread out. We downloaded the app and crossed our fingers, and it did not disappoint. I will use these for all future road trips. It’s almost like having a guide in your car.

Black Hills

Is great when you’re following the route chosen but not if you change course or direction.
Would like to be able to hear information regardless of whether I’m following their route. Yellowstone and Teton guide was pretty good but this one disappointing.

Yes we created 3 driving routes through the region and all connecting through Rapid City, that showcase and highlight the best things to see and do. Its a fairly large region so the information can't be random and there's definitely a "best way" to experience some of the sightseeing. If you choose to drive off the routes, the the tours can't deliver the info.

Easy use guide while driving

We used in Badlands and Blackhills and found it very useful and easy to use. We’ve been to the area many times but learned things we didn’t know before and were encouraged to venture off on roads we’d never thought of trying before.

A Personal Guide in Our Car

We have used the Gypsy Guides for trips to Banff, the Utah national parks, and South Dakota. They are worth the price that you have to pay to download them. As others constantly say they are accurate and work seamlessly as you drive... the commentary is so engaging: informative, concise, and witty. Make sure you plug your phone in to a power source as they drain a lot of power.
