About
Open a door from your phone over Bluetooth Low Energy — no Wi-Fi, no hub, no subscription.
BLEnd Switch is a simple trigger for a winery production door, a cellar door, a garage door, a gate, or any relay-controlled opener. When you are nearby, swipe to trigger. The app finds your device by its advertised BLE name, connects, writes the configured trigger byte to a GATT characteristic, and disconnects.
WHY BLUETOOTH, NOT WI-FI
Your phone talks straight to the controller over BLE. If your Wi-Fi is down, or the door is somewhere with no Wi-Fi coverage at all — a remote production building, a barn, the far end of a vineyard — BLEnd Switch still works. You can still add Wi-Fi via ESPHome and Home Assistant for automations or remote monitoring; it's just not required for the trigger itself.
ONE SWIPE, NOT A SETTINGS MAZE
Configure the advertised BLE name and GATT UUIDs once in Settings. After that it's a single deliberate swipe, every time — no accidental pocket triggers, no Bluetooth pairing, and nothing to fiddle with.
BUILD YOUR OWN CONTROLLER
The reference build is a Seeed XIAO ESP32-C3 and a relay module, flashed with ESPHome. The relay performs a brief momentary short across the two low-voltage wires that already run to the wall button — the same electrical event as a button press. It is not intended to bypass the opener's existing safety systems. Other BLE-capable microcontrollers can work when they expose matching GATT values.
The full reference ESPHome YAML is built into the app's About screen, with a Share button so you can send it straight into your own config. A build guide with photos is linked from the same screen.
NOTHING LEAVES YOUR DEVICE
No accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no ads, no tracking. Your device name and BLE settings are stored only on your phone.
FOR ELECTRONICS HOBBYISTS
Building the reference controller involves soldering and low-voltage wiring into an existing door opener's control circuit. Do this only if you're comfortable with DIY electronics — never wire into mains or high voltage, and if you're not sure, hire a qualified installer.
Operate a door only when you can confirm the area is clear. The reference BLE command is nearby convenience control, not a cryptographic access-control system.

1.0.1
September 17, 2026
Swipe to trigger: the door button is now a slide-to-confirm control, so a stray tap in your pocket or bag can't open the door. VoiceOver users can still activate it with a double-tap. Refreshed Home artwork and updated in-app help text.
