About

Bølge turns live radio into something you can read. Tune in to a news or sports station and the words appear on screen as they are spoken — as real sentences, with capital letters and punctuation. Recognition uses Apple's speech technology, on your device wherever iOS supports the language. Bølge doesn't record audio, runs no servers of its own and needs no account. READ THE AIRWAVES • “Start Reading” turns the transcript on and takes you straight to the news • Live transcription of news, talk and sport radio • Follow along on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island • Home Screen widget showing the station on air and the latest line • Adjustable text size and VoiceOver support • Follow radio without listening — for deaf and hard-of-hearing people, or anywhere you can't play sound KEEP AND UNDERSTAND • Broadcasts are saved as text you can re-read later • Translate saved transcripts into your language, entirely on device • Search by station name or by country LISTEN • More than a thousand hand-checked stations from 71 countries • News, sport and music, plus headlines from public broadcasters • Favourites, sleep timer and background playback • A newspaper front page with today's date and your local weather Radio playback is free and stays free. Bølge speaks English, Norwegian, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese. PRIVACY Bølge collects no personal data. Transcripts are saved only on your device and can be deleted at any time. Translation runs on your device; speech recognition does too wherever iOS supports the language, otherwise it goes through Apple's speech service.

What's New in Bølge

Start reading in seconds — after the intro, “Start Reading” turns on the live transcript and plays news from your country or in your language. Bølge now speaks Chinese and Japanese. Country names and permission prompts appear in your language. More of Bølge works with VoiceOver: the archive, settings, country lists and search. Lock Screen and Dynamic Island — the card stays when you switch stations and updates instantly. The widget refreshes on its own, and Control Center and your car show what’s actually playing. The transcript now runs on news and sport stations, so music plays uninterrupted. On supported devices the first words appear faster, with better punctuation. Archive — choose the translation language for each recording. 61 verified news stations and 20 sport stations. Also: simpler Settings, a comfortable reading column on iPad and a long list of fixes.
