It’d be cool if I could select specific YouTube channels to block from my recommendations/search results

I have a very addictive personality and cannot stop myself from going on shorts.
I deleted TikTok and Instagram a couple months ago, hoping to stop this short form content addiction, but I simply just transitioned to YT shorts, it’s annoying there is no way to disable shorts in app as I use YouTube a lot for educational stuff or DIY.
That said, this extension works perfectly on safari and completely removes YT shorts.
I also find myself getting in meaningless arguments in comment sections,or scrolling through recommendations for ages - you can also block these with the extension.
It takes some fiddling but I have an iPhone and after 5 minutes it was all setup. Delete YouTube and use the one in Safari.

Time Saver
Does what is says, nothing more, nothing less. Helps you saving time from doom scrolling comments und keeps you from clicking shining (but often meaningless) shorts.
Great for Eliminating Distraction
It is very good at allowing you to focus when you need to use Youtube for legitimate reasons and not getting distracted by recommended videos or comments. 100% would reccomend for anyone struggling with YouTube addiction.

thanks exactly what I was looking for. Now I just need a way to lock it down with a pin or something, so I dont just disable it. Maybe via screentime or with a cooperation with onesec maybe?

Should have trusted that other review. Have ensure both BlockYT options are enabled and yet not a single short is blocked. Very disappointing - I feel scammed.

Hello, sorry to hear that. Shorts blocking should be working as advertised. Please drop me an email using the feedback form within the app, I’m sure we can resolve the issue you experienced EDIT- If you open BlockYT and pass the initial setup, there will be a “Feedback” button that will initiate the email. Or you can write directly to “feedback.developer at icloud dot com”
Still able to open YT,
Developer wrote me to explain this is to block unwanted suggestions so I’m going to try to use it in addition to “sunscreen app” which allows me to have to password entry each video request from the kids.

Der Kauf war jeden Cent wert. Die Erweiterung hilft vor ungewollten längeren Aufenthalten auf der Plattform, indem die Shorts und Empfehlungen ausgeschaltet werden können. Wenn man sich, wie ich, gerne mal von den Kommentaren in den Bann ziehen lässt, kann man diese ebenfalls deaktivieren. Während 1 Monat Erfahrung funktionierte die Anwendung einwandfrei ohne irgendwelche Bugs.
