Best Design - Now with granular data!

Updating my review: the app now shows granular data when looking at the last 24 hours. Fantastic. Would be nice to also see that on the 1 week graph, but that’s a minor quibble.

This app is by far the best designed in terms of visuals and organization of any of the available options.

One great feature to see would be the ability to set optimal flow rate markers on the graph (eg setting marks at 200 and 400 cfs to indicate that a river fishes best between 200-400 cfs). Or, at least the ability to keep notes on different stations so that I can reference it in written form. It’s sometimes hard to remember all the ideal flows for various rivers.

Fantastic App

The app is really user friendly and intuitive. I had a question about the app, I emailed the company and Ryan got back to me the next day. Incredible customer service. If you are serious about river sports, this is a must-have app!

Great Flow App

This app stands out for its visually appealing design, user-centric interface, and the ability to extract pertinent information from the flow gauges. With the on going government cut backs, expect delays getting maintenance, and updates.

Certain features might require formal requests to USGS or local sponsorship from local fishing clubs on a yearly basis.

Using a few failed fishing flow apps due to on going support or lack of interest. Nonetheless, being an avid angler he continues to show dedication to the fishing community, emphasizing the importance high quality flow apps for evaluating river conditions.

I’ve seen a lot better

Does not keep the data you put in

Best Design - Lacking Granular Data

This app is by far the best designed in terms of visuals and organization of any of the available options, but is held back by not providing the actual raw data from the USGS sites like the other apps provide. The graph apparently pulls from a different data set than the other apps do, thus providing limited insight into what’s actually happening on the river. Did the river peak six hours ago and start to drop? Who knows, it only shows that it’s up from yesterday’s reading. It’s a shame, as it really makes the app less useful, and I still need to reference another app or visit the river’s USGS page to figure out what’s happening. So close!

Response from developer

Thanks for the compliment on the app design! In terms of showing more granular data, we can support anything that the USGS supports. I've implemented several features that my users have asked me to via email. You'll find my email address in the about page of Blue Liner Flows, and I encourage you to send me an email with the details of the feature you'd like to see and I can take a look at implementing it. Give me a chance to earn your 5 star review. Thanks!

Was good.. until it wasn’t

Had it for about three months now, purchase the subscription so I could have the widget on the background of my phone. Has worked perfect up until yesterday and now it’s telling me that if I want to use the widget, I need to purchase a subscription. I have deleted, and re-downloaded with no luck.

Best app around

The UI for this app is beautiful compared to every other app that I’ve tried, but the ability to favorite individual gauges instead of having to favorite an entire stream or river is a first for me.

Room for improvement

The apps appearance and interface is great. I like the ability to see temps in conjunction with the flow.

Why I give it a low rating is that I’ve found the graphs are only graphing readings one or so times a day, and often lagging several days.

Unfortunately I’ve already paid for a year subscription so I have invested hope of seeing improvements within the data representation and frequency.

John

Great app. Easy to read and awesome to have weather also

Love it

Makes it easy to quickly monitor my favorite rafting and fishing spots hours away. Purchased the annual service and already have several alerts set. Great app.

Price?

Subscribed to annual membership ($6.99) and was charged $16.99. No way to contact them through app. Beware. Three stars because I like the data and will use it religiously. Already have my flow and temp alerts set for whitewater and fishing. Be nice if they read this and refund me……..

The Best in its class

Amazing app with spectacular interface and features!

Fire app

It’s so helpful to see river flow info before you hit the trail and this is the best app that I’ve found. There’s complex data presented in a simple way. Widgets are immensely helpful for conditions at a glance. Invest in the premium version to conquer fish like never before.

Alerts!

This app not only has a sleek, user friendly design, it also has alerts for changing conditions and widgets to add to your Home Screen. Save your regular fishing spots to your favorites and enable alerts for the best experience. Worth every penny!
