Neat Idea, Not-So-Neat Functionality
Before I list the issues, I want to praise the developers at Boardman for executing an idea like this. I’m not 100% percent supportive of the idea, but I do appreciate the efforts that they put in to release an app to speed up the process of writing out hall passes and keeping us safe.
Now, here are the main issues I’ve noticed with the app:
1. The barcode scanner doesn’t work. Even when pointing the camera right at the barcode, it doesn’t register. I’ve tried to re enable my camera access, reinstall the app, etc., but nothing seems to have changed
2. The timer is broken. This could be because of the broken barcode scanner, but when rescanning upon entering the classroom, it doesn’t confirm access. I once got a reminder saying I was gone for 16 hours because it didn’t sign me back in my classroom.
