About

11.6 million boats are registered in the United States. If you own one, you know the rhythm: state registration on a 1-, 2-, or 3-year cycle. Flares stamped with a manufacture date. A fire extinguisher whose 12-year clock you cannot recite. A boater education card that may or may not be lifetime. BoatLedger holds those dates so your season is not interrupted by a sticker on the bow or a Coast Guard boarding. Every record stays on your iPhone. No account, no cloud, no analytics. The only network call is to Apple's StoreKit to verify your subscription. What BoatLedger tracks: - State vessel registration renewal deadlines, on the cycle your state uses (Florida biennial, Michigan triennial, California biennial-fixed) - USCG fire extinguisher expiry, 12 years from manufacture per 33 CFR Section 175.320 - Visual distress signal (flare) expiry, 42 months from manufacture - PFD count per person, by your boat's class - Navigation lights, sound device, ECOS, and backfire flame arrestor status - Boater education card expiry across 45-plus mandatory states How it works: - Add a vessel: name, state, registration expiry, type, length - Add safety equipment: flares, fire extinguishers, PFDs, nav lights - BoatLedger computes every date-based expiry from the manufacture date you enter - Add each deadline to your iPhone Calendar with reminders at 90, 60, 30, 14, 7, and 1 day before - Glance at the Lock Screen widget for the next item due - Generate a vessel-specific Safety Equipment Checklist PDF before the season opens What BoatLedger is not: - Not affiliated with the U.S. Coast Guard, any state DMV or DNR, or any government agency - Not a navigation, weather, AIS, or chart-plotter app - Not an official compliance certification - Not legal or safety advice -always verify with USCG or your state's boating agency Day one - for every user: - 1 vessel + registration deadline countdown - 3 safety equipment items with auto-computed expiry - Reference content for 5 common states (FL, MI, MN, TX, CA) - Basic Calendar integration for registration deadlines - Full USCG federal equipment rules Pro tier -three ways to subscribe: - Annual $29.99 / year with a 7-day free trial - Monthly $4.99 / month, for the owner who subscribes in May and stops in October - Lifetime $59.99 one-time -your boat outlasts most subscriptions All three unlock the same Pro feature set: 50-State Registration Renewal Tracker - Renewal cycles, fees, and agency contacts for all 50 states + DC, with Calendar reminders at 90/60/30/14/7/1 days. USCG Safety Equipment Expiry Manager - Auto-computes flare 42-month and fire extinguisher 12-year expiry per 33 CFR. Tracks PFD count, nav lights, sound devices, ECOS, and backfire arrestor by boat class. Lock Screen + Home Screen Widgets - Next expiring item with days remaining on the Lock Screen. Per-vessel compliance status (green / amber / red) on the Home Screen. Safety Equipment Checklist PDF - Vessel-specific checklist based on boat class and length, ready for the USCG Vessel Safety Check. Boater Education Certificate Tracker - 45+ mandatory states with NASBLA-approved card tracking and reciprocity reference. Designed exclusively for iPhone. iPad and Mac are not supported. Data Notice. BoatLedger stores all data locally on the iPhone. There is no in-app export, import, or backup feature. Your records are included in standard iOS Backups (iCloud Backup or Finder/iTunes) when enabled. The app generates Safety Equipment Checklist PDFs on demand and hands them to the iOS Share Sheet. Without an iOS Backup, deleting the app permanently loses local data. Three reference organizations remain visible in the Reference tab: BoatUS (boatus.com / 800-395-2628), NASBLA (nasbla.org), and USCG Auxiliary (cgaux.org) -the latter performs free Vessel Safety Checks.
