Bookari Ebook Reader User Reviews

Top reviews

Installed & then deleted within 5 minutes.

I shouldn't have to pay you 8$ to sync to my google drive so that I can put PDFs in here without using someone else's computer, since I don't have my own laptop.

Someone might as well just use the Files app on iOS instead. It's free & works better even if it doesn't bookmark your page.

Why make a iOS app that then relies on the user having a *separate computer* to put files into Bookari on their iPad/phone... Instead of just using the native files from the iPad itself? And then of course, the option that requires a computer is the only *free* option...

Honestly, since this is for iOS only, the fees might have been better off the other way around - computer sync for charge, & then using a google drive for free, since not everyone has a computer with iTunes *and* a tablet at the same time.

Very disappointed, I just wanted to read my book & be able to save my place. New record for how fast I've deleted an app :/

No go for Adobe DRM

Spinning forever trying to open an Adobe DRM (University of Chicago) book. Not encouraging that the app hasn’t been updated in two years. Abandonware?

A note on ads: I don’t mind that they’re there. It gives me a chance to see if I can use the app (I can’t) before I pay for it, which I’d be entirely willing to do ... if it worked.

Unable to read Adobe DRM

I got this app for the sole purpose of reading an Adobe DRM ebook. The app has spent the last hour trying to open it with no success, just an endlessly spinning wait wheel.

Charge to CC

Avoid downloading at all costs.
I attempted to open a free account and it asks for a CC number.
I put in a CC number (big mistake) and was immediately hit with a $39.95 charge.

buggy

I would not even be using this thing were it not for the fact that I made the mistake of purchasing a DRM-protected epub. Having used it regularly for a week though the only things that stick out are the navigation, which freezes frequently (requiring an app restart), and the fact that one continuous highlight cannot span multiple pages for some reason. The nerve required in asking me to pay $7 to take this garbage to the 'premium' level is truly something.

Premium edition

I bought the premium addition because I’m super busy and thought I could listen with to books with earbuds instead of trying to find time to read them but turns out I can’t understand half of what the voice is saying. Very disappointing. Needs an update to fix the speech dictionary badly.

Not ready for prime time

Downloaded one of the free University of Chicago ebooks. The reader keeps freezing up. Got a quick glimpse of the ads popping up.

Highlighting glitches

Highlighting disappears

Glitches and ads

The free version forces you to watch increasingly intrusive advertisements before you can read your book, including some without a close button so that you have to watch all the way through and then are brought to the advertiser’s download site. It also has glitches: e.g gets stuck on a single page.

Good but

For some reasons, kybook3 remains the best ebook reader ever developed.

No Response from Support

I subscribed to the cloud service but it wasn't syncing properly between my devices and I've moved back to Apple Books. I sent a support request in on Feb 1 to get a refund on the year of cloud service but haven't had any response. What gives?

Crashing

Keeps crashing when you select a book

Unbelievably obnoxious ads

Unbelievably obnoxious ads completely unfeeling with a reading experience. I opened it to check a reference work but had to jump through a forced interaction and then a full screen gaming ad for like 30 seconds.

Awesome app

This app has clean interface and works great!

Great app

Charm to read..

Unstable

Bookari v4 is extremely unstable on iPad 4 (64GB, 10.2) with cca 2.000 ebooks.

Useful

No support for cmyk color pattern for PDFs files needs to be fixed,

Best ebook reader by a long shot!

I've been using Mantano for a few years. Occasionally I have problems and get frustrated. Then I'll download several other readers. But I've never found a reader half as good as Mantano. I did like Chmate. But it's like a pony compared to a racehorse in the features department.
Mantano's customer service is excellent even though sometimes I'm not very good at explaining the problem.
One thing I've found is that every time I try to use the new ePub 3 format, everything goes haywire. The only fix that I've had success with is to delete the document, re download it and resist the temptation to "try it out to see if its working right yet." But the rest of Mantano is SO much better than any other reader, I can live without ePub 3.

Only one star

This app needs serious help. It does not move from page to page correctly. Very unstable. Gave it only one star because it downloaded to my tablet effortlessly. If I could have gotten away with no stars I would have. This certainly doesn't encourage me to even think about trying the $5 version. Please help.
