What's New in Bookshelf Scanner

2.2

July 17, 2026

See who's reading what — and take it with you. - Reading history & export — Open any book to see everyone who's borrowed it, or open a student to see every book they've read. Export both as CSV or PDF to share or keep on file. - Compact library view — A new, denser grid fits more books on screen at once, so you can scan your whole shelf faster. Each device remembers the layout you prefer. Thanks for using Bookshelf Scanner! Have a request or spotted a bug? We'd love to hear from you.

App does not work as advertised

Camera setting to scan isbn numbers is never working. Even paid the $4.99 thinking it would streamline something but literally nothing works

Response from developer

I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues scanning ISBNs. Please email help@ifthendev.com to work through these issues. The scanning of barcodes does work reliably, so I’m sure we can get this fixed for you.

Only allows 10 books on Free version

If you have more than 10 books, this app is not for you. Definitely NOT for use in the classroom unless you want to upgrade to the 4.99 version.

Response from developer

Thank you for trying Bookshelf Scanner. The free version with a limit of books is intended to be a trial version to let you try before you buy. If you have any questions about features, please email help@ifthendev.com and I’ll be happy to assist.

Good, but has some issues

It’s fine when it actually scans your books the way it’s supposed to. But I’ve been having issues with the app not scanning the barcodes on my books correctly. Sometimes when I scan the barcode, it will come up as a completely different book. But then when I manually type in the ISBN, the correct book will come up. Another issue is that the app will not recognize ISBNs with letters in them at all. Some of my books have Xs at the end of the number, and the app does not recognize the book. And there’s no option to manually type those in because the keypad that you have to use doesn’t give you the option of using letters, only numbers. So then you basically have to create the book from scratch and put in all the information yourself. Half of my books have had to be input manually one way or another. The purpose of the app is to make it easier to digitally scan and keep track of your books, but this is not easier when I have to do so much of it manually.

Features not working

The ability to look up books is once again not working. I try to search for a book and the search feature crashes, forcing me to look through my whole library to find the books my students want to check out.

I am also unable to scan my library barcodes. This feature previously worked without any issues, but now it does not work at all. I am still able to scan the ISBN barcodes without any issues.

I am beginning to regret purchasing the full version of this app. I have over 600 books in my classroom library and I would hate to have find another app, one that actually works, and have to rescan my whole library, but I am considering it as these issues make this app cumbersome.

Help

How on earth do you take books out?? Someone help!!

Response from developer

Hello. To remove the book from your library, you can tap the book to bring it up and there will be a trash can button in the top left as long as the book is not checked out. If the book is currently borrowed, check it back in and then you can delete it. If you have any other questions, please email help@ifthendev.com Thank you.
