Disappointing Policy Change for Paid Members
I have been a long time user of Boom Cards and, until recently, considered it one of the most cost-effective and practical tools for creating and sharing digital materials as an SLP. One of the biggest advantages was the ability to share self-published decks with colleagues, regardless of their account type. This made collaboration easy and allowed teams to efficiently support students without adding extra financial burden. Unfortunately, the recent policy change requires BOTH users to have paid accounts in order to share self-published decks has been extremely disappointing. This change in policy has not been updated on their membership plans either, making their basic (free) account misleading to new members. As someone who already pays for a premium membership to create unlimited decks, I find it frustrating that I can no longer freely share the materials I’ve created with colleagues unless they also pay. This significantly reduces the value of the membership and creates unnecessary barriers to collaboration. What was once a standout, cost-effective resource now feels much more restrictive and aligned with other platforms that prioritize paywalls over accessibility for education. At this point, I can no longer recommend Boom Cards to colleagues. I will be exploring and encouraging the use of alternative tools that better support collaboration without added costs.

Great resource
I have been using boom cards for several years with my esl students. It is a fantastic resource and just what I needed. Making decks is a lot of work but worth it. I am able to make digital activities that are geared exactly to the material I am teaching my students, even usually my own recorded voice. Once made I can assign these decks to digital classrooms and add or remove students as needed. I highly recommend this resource.

Great for homeschool
As a homeschooling mom of three energetic kids ages 13, 12 and 9, finding the right educational resources that save time and efficiently track progress is crucial. Boom Learning has become an indispensable part of our daily routine. This platform has truly been a game changer for us offering a variety of interactive and engaging digital activities that not only keep my kids interested but also cater to different learning needs. I am able to collect real-time data on each child’s progress, monitor their achievements and areas where they might need more focus. I can do all of this without having to manually check their work. I also use this for portfolios and yearly reviews. This allows me to concentrate on other important aspects of homeschooling and family life.

Never works on iPad
Can’t tell you how many sessions I’ve prepped for then go to open boom cards and it doesn’t work. So irritating
Good but frustrating
I am a RBT and work with young children with Autism. Boom cards can be a fantastic resource for therapists and teachers alike. Now for the frustrating part. You can only build decks on the website. It’s annoying and aggravating that I can’t simply go to the app on my phone or iPad and make a deck to cater to a specific child. I have to wait until I get to my computer and build the deck on the website. Forget trying to use the website on your phone or iPad. It only makes things 10 times more aggravating!

I love this service and the concept is great. However, recently whenever I open the app and prep before an online lesson, then try to open in a lesson , I get a blank screen. I have to access boom cards through the internet not the ap. It takes minutes away from a lessons while I recalibrate.
I have an updated version of the app. I’m now debating if I should keep my premium membership or downgrade for a service that is not performing properly.

Excellent resource!
As an SLP, I see many students with a variety of needs. I have found so many wonderful resources to use with my students and the children love the variety! I must say that I have not encountered any of problems mentioned in some other reviews. The app has matured quite a bit in the last 2 years and I would caution against basing any decision about whether or not to try the app on older reviews.

Bad Tech Support
I cannot drag and drop decks to custom folders using an iPad Pro and I am unable to get any tech support. I was also unable to schedule a tech support call through the website. I am happy to change my review if this can get resolved.
It’s just the web site and “Studio” tab doesn’t work.
If you are the app developer, please note that “Studio” does not work and the layout is not optimized for the new home indicator bar — which currently occludes the bottom tabs.

It stops working often
My son’s kinder class requires this ap. It usually works on his chrome book, but it always freezes on his iPad. It will work for a while, then stop allowing him to move tiles around. It’s frustrating and makes it not user friendly for little kids.
This app is amazing
My students and I LOVE boomlearning! It is a must have in our classroom and it is a great way to differentiate learning.

Boom Cards are the best!
Boom cards have transformed my speech therapy sessions and I have been able to use them during both teletherapy and in-person sessions. The games keep my students engaged and I love how easy it is to plan!
