Yep

It works

I’ve used lots of different cloud type apps and boombox just works, for everyone and all the time. I’ve come to depend on it. And my clients too: “are you going to make a playlist on boombox?” They love it

Amazing dj tool

This is an amazing dj/producing tool

not good service imo

I didn’t know when I stopped the subscription for a while until I could do it again that would take my music down. Unless I didn’t read carefully enough, I’ve never read anything about that.

Bugs since last update

I can no longer log in after the latest update. Additionally, when sharing a track directly from it’s waveform in the player window doesn’t share a link - it only says “check out my song on boombox”

Very helpful for musicians!!

This program has helped me string together my next album by its cool playlist feature- which allows me to listen to demos in the car and album song orders. It has been very easy to send music to band members and others that I want to get feedback from about it! I highly recommend this app!!

App refuses to stay signed in

I really love boombox as a platform, but it is so frustrating to have to sign into the app every single time I want to make a recording of an idea, it takes enough time where I may have forgotten the idea or don’t want to bother recording it. Please fix otherwise the service is perfect but this is a fatal flaw for an app that’s about recording ideas.

So much potential

I love the idea of this app, but the execution needs some work. The UI and interactions are pretty clunky and cumbersome at times. Versioning is difficult to understand. Can’t share single songs from a playlist. Why do I have to log in almost every time I use the app? Would be nice, too, if I could comment on a timestamp in a track without playing it (would be nice if the commenting took similar visual cues from SoundCloud, how you can see and add comments without leaving the wav file view).

Also disappointing that they’re taking away most of the free features before, imo, the app is performing at a level to warrant forced upgrades.

That said, I do plan on using it for music collaboration for the foreseeable future, as it streamlines the process without needing to share DAWs or deal with ads like some of the alternatives. Fingers crossed they will be vigilantly and actively making both dev and design improvements over the next year!

great music collab app

i’m a full time singer, lyricist, and recording artist and i use boombox everyday with my main collaborators. i engage their support team about feature ideas and love all the updates they’ve made. the current features are great and i look forward to what’s to come. i use the boombox website, but the app is great for on the go listening. boombox gives me and my team a solid touch point for our music, helps track progress, and increases our communication so much!

Idk yet

Ok so they updated the browser version with the AI Tools. When the AI Tools first came out, they were free. Even for the free users who may is on the fence of usin boombox as a tool. I used it one time, when I decided to come back a few months later, them tools were gone.

I can’t remember if they eva had it on the app version. I contacted customer service about this back in February, they acted like I didn’t know wut I wuz talkin bout. Now out of no where, the AI Tools are back.

But this time you gotta pay eitha for a monthly plan or for the credits themselves, in order to use the tools. I ain’t mad at the hustle. But you would think that folks who have a monthly plan, would automatically get those tools. I kno idk how much credits each tool would cost to use.

Yet y’all haven’t updated the app with the AI Tools. Yall can have that two stars. I didn’t like how it was there one day, then gone, made to look like I’m a dumb asz, n still ain’t update the app.

New update is fantastic

As a product designer I was so disappointed in the app at first. That all changed today. Optimized for larger screens, scrubbing capabilities, nicer UI all around. Great feature updates overall and a unified design system that looks great. Only thing I’d like to see is an easy casting capability, but you can always mirror or do it from control center. Great work!

Great update

The app helps keep me organized as an artist. Sharing is easy and I love the new full-screen player.

Good

Cool app perfect idea fr for what im trying to do. Can you add a shuffle option to playlists?

Keep Working

Great concept as I use Google Drive and wanted this so I can play my files in a playlist format without uploading to a large streaming service. Boombox is a good start but there are some bugs to workout.

One main complaint - no log in persistence

Great app overall, easy to use and good UI. My main complaint is one that makes the app very frustrating to use - there is no log in persistence. Every time I open the app I must re-authenticate.

Almost Good

Almost a good app. Constantly need to sign in. User interface is clunky and some simple things like adding songs to playlists or just scrubbing songs is difficult. It feels about a decade behind modern apps

Good start, still needs work

This is a good concept and I’m happy to have been able to move away from Dropbox, but there’s a lot of bugs to still figure out. It also doesn’t yet upload files as quickly on desktop as Dropbox’s speed, which makes a large difference when exporting a project to test in different listening environments. I assume things like this will be addressed over time.

Service and app are good. Too many sign ins

I love the service and the app is easy to use and has most of the web functions. But I have to sign in so frequently, it’s annoying. Add biometrics, or better yet, stop asking me to sign in so much!

Great concepts

So far I’ve found that the website offers an easy to navigate interface that allows for several people to work on the project. However the app for whatever reeason doesn’t have the project messaging, just private messaging.

Major Feature Missing - Can’t Scrub through Songs

The app seems to work decently well and definitely has more music related tools in it than other file sharing apps.

My main gripe though is that it doesn’t allow you to scrub through a song to find a specific part. This can be such a pain when you need to get to a specific part of a song you have to just sit there and wait for that part and if you miss it you need to go back and replay the entire thing again.

I feel this is such a small feature to implement but makes a huge difference in workflow and would make the app so much more usable. Until this has been implement it just makes more sense to use another file sharing app like DropBox.

I also think the actual way you go about file uploading could be improved since that’s another weak point of this app in my opinion.
