July 26, 2026

Your labels got a full makeover — and a lot more places to print them. NEW: LABELS, REBUILT Every label now shares one clear anatomy: room colour across the top, a box number you can read from the other end of a hallway, and a FRAGILE badge that's genuinely hard to miss. Fun, Detailed or Stealth — same good bones, your pick of personality. NEW: PRINT ON (ALMOST) ANYTHING • Avery sheets — 5126, 5163, 5164 and 22806 • A4 parcel sheets for the UK and EU — J8169 and J8165 • Thermal roll printers — Niimbot, Phomemo, Munbyn and DYMO-compatible • Plain paper, 10 or 12 to a page — print, cut, done SHARPER, ROOMIER LABELS • Labels are now true vector PDFs, so text and QR codes stay crisp at every size • Bigger QR codes that scan faster in a dim hallway • Your box contents fill the whole label instead of trailing off mid-sentence ALSO PACKED IN • Tip of the Day now actually turns off when you turn it off • Reached a limit? You'll get a clear upgrade prompt instead of a spinner • Up to 5 photos per box on a paid plan Happy packing! Ideas? We read everything: info@boxbuddy.tech

Finally found the best moving app

I’m so very happy that I found this app we’re moving and this is saved me and my wife so much time it’s so organized and just incredible to be able to have this type of inventory at our fingertips. The QR scanning works wicked and the whole functionality is just amazing

Response from developer

Thanks so much for the raving review, we built this moving app to be the best moving app and also to be an incredible inventory app after you have completed your move and there is still a "Few" boxes left over. That's another game changer - when you're looking for your xmas decorations...

It’s promising

Let me start by saying that of all of the ‘moving’ apps this one looks to be the most promising. The others are just awful. Initially, I blasted this app, but after getting solid and cordial responses from Steffen, the developer, who’s been working with me to sort out some issues, I’ve re-written my review and upped this app to Four Stars.

Now, with that said, I’m writing this review early in the this apps life and I have had a fair share of challenges with it. Some of it has to do with the convoluted way that Apple associates additional email addresses to the actual ‘iCloud’ or ‘Mac.com’ email addresses they let to one’s Apple ID. The developer has attempted to make logging easy and to invite guests to join in on the +moving fun+. What we learned is that using Apple’s +Hide My Email+ alias is not a great idea at this juncture. It’ll cause you a headache.

All that said, I think this app will be the one to top. The others are so convoluted, I’d rather just track things in a paper notebook or an Excel sheet. Hopefully we can get BoxBuddy fully on track, and I’ll update my review and star rating, accordingly.

Thank you — and I'm sorry. You're right, and I want to own it. The invite flow required the second person to accept using the exact email their invite was sent to, so if they signed in with a different address, they'd land in their own empty account instead of joining yours. That's exactly the "hours and hours" frustration you described, and it was our bug, not your mistake. It's now fixed. Version 2.1.6 (live this week) lets an invited member join the main account regardless of which email they use to sign in. If you update and try again, it should just work. On the responsiveness: mail to me never arrived, and that's on me to fix too. Please reach me directly at info@boxbuddy.tech — I'll personally sort out your refund and set your household up with a free year of the Family plan for the trouble. BoxBuddy is a one-person shop, and feedback this direct is how it gets better. Thank you for pushing on it. — Steffen, BoxBuddy

Excellent App for Tracking boxes. Highly Responsive Development Team.

In my original review, I noted several flaws that needed to be addressed, though I noted this was the best app available for managing your moving boxes. Within a week, the development team lead contacted me and resolved all the major issues I raised.
The product is actively being improved, and the development team is exceptionally responsive to user input. If you discover bugs or have functional suggestions, I highly recommend reaching out to their technical support.

Hi there, Steffen here. I'm the founder of BoxBuddy (it's just me behind the app, so your review landed directly on my desk), and I want to start with a genuine thank you. Detailed feedback like this is exactly how BoxBuddy gets better, and you clearly gave the app a real chance. Let me take your points one at a time: Auto-save: You're right, and this one stings because I can picture exactly the moment you're describing — arms full, mid-pack, and the box vanishes. Making box entries save automatically as you go is now at the top of my list. Family plan: Good news — your husband shouldn't need to buy anything. Here's the flow: he downloads BoxBuddy free from the App Store, then instead of subscribing, he accepts your invite (Settings → Family Sharing → Send Invite, or the share link). Once he signs in through the invite, he gets full access under your plan. If that still doesn't work, that's a bug and I want to know immediately. Printing & the QR freeze: We shipped updates this week that touch both areas — please update to the latest version and try again. If barcodes still won't print, email me and I'll troubleshoot it with you personally. Your support email: This is the part that bothers me most. I've searched our inbox, including junk, and I can't find it — I'm truly sorry, because a week of silence is not how we operate. Please resend it to support@boxbuddy.tech with "App Store review" in the subject and I'll respond the same day. And yes — your box inventory is safe. It's stored on our servers, not just your iPad, so it'll be there after your move. Thank you for pushing us to be better. Steffen, Founder

Quirky and parts don’t work.

I didn’t find an app that was better, but this one has some quirky features that are really problematic. First unlike every other iPad program that’s been written, this one does not auto save. You can be packing and taking photographs but if you navigate away from BoxBuddy or look at something else in the program, all of your work for that box is gone—pictures, descriptions, everything. You must implicitly save the box or risk losing it while you’re packing.

- I bought the family plan and my husband has an iPad and he can’t log into box buddy or hit it from the web. The link takes him to a page where it wants him to buy the app. He’s on my Apple family plan so I should’ve been able to do it with just a single subscriber, but that didn’t work and now after paying for the family plan it still doesn’t work for two people.
Printing is also a challenge. I could not get any of the barcodes to print, whether print directly or sharing to Acrobat. I can see them on the screen, but they don’t print out . One workaround that worked was taking a photograph of the printout and then printing it out from iPad pictures. Also, when I scan the barcode, it opened up BoxBuddy showed me the box and then froze the app so I had to unload the app to look at anything else .
I see on various sites that many other people are having similar problems to me but BoxBuddy hasn’t fixed it. I wrote an email to tech-support which they advertise response in 24 hours, but it’s been a week and no response.
BoxBuddy sort of works, but not as advertised. You have to be very careful how you use it and don’t expect all the features to be functional. I just hope my box inventory will still be there after I move.

This is a great app!

I love this app for moving it’s the best I could find It was suspicious at first when their wasn’t any reviews but it’s a really good app for moving and packing! Only problem is that the subscription is too high maybe lower it more for both solo and family and also it tends to get zoomed it sometimes but other then that it’s really good

Thanks so much for your review and trust at the beginning of our journey. We didn't want to use the monthly subscription model, and thought $20 for the App was easier. And we fixed the Zoom and added a bunch more features over the last month. Simply update your app and you are on your way.
