Well implemented but with one big thing missing
This is a great digital implementation of what is now Brass: Lancashire. It is actually the original version of the game, predating Lancashire, but the two are very similar. The bots are okay for learning the basics, but their strategies are too rigid and basic to be good much beyond that.
The biggest problem is that the online functionality doesn’t work. Which is a real shame.

Faithful.
Like most other ‘board game video games’, it doesn’t quite have the same charm as the real life counterpart; but it’s a 1:1 recreation of the board game so if you are looking for a way to play Brass: Lancashire on the go, this is your best bet.
Excellent game! Decent app! Lousy tutorial
Love this game! I wouldn't have learned how to play it though if i didn't have the physical version. The lack of a good tutorial is unfortunate.
Good game, but can’t play online
Good game. Good interface. Can’t register or login to play online.
When I try to register, it says check your internet connection and try again later. When I try to login, it says connecting and freezes forever. And yes, my internet is fine. And yes, I’ve rebooted the app and my iPad multiple times and retried. Same issues every time. Developers…please help!

Good app, but limitations for play
Please add an undo button, it is so easy to make a mistake clicking and it ruins the game. Please allow for online games with real players and AI - my husband and I want to play a four player setup with the computer. Add filters and search features for online games, it is insane to have to scroll for several minutes!

Gute Umsetzung eines tollen Brettspiels
Wie im Titel geschrieben, eine gute Umsetzung eines tollen Brettspiels. Ein Muss für alle Brass und Wallace Fans. Spiele es schon länger und kann es nur empfehlen. Aber, wann kommt endlich Brass Birmingham als App?

Eigentlich ein sehr gutes Spiel.
Leider wird es nicht mehr gepflegt und man muss sich durch hunterte tote Spiele scrollen, ehe man endlich sein neu gestartetes Spiel findet.
Wenn das doch noch mal irgendwann behoben wird, gibt‘s wieder 5 Sterne.

Very good game
Please improve the logic to find the game that was just created by my friend. e.g. list my friends game at the top, or at lease the new games at the top.
Tolles Spiel, aber eine Bitte…
Das Spiel ist schön umgesetzt und läuft stabil, auch online. Aber - warum muss man bei den Online-Spielen ewig nach unten scrollen, um ein neu angelegtes Spiel dann am Ende der Liste statt am Anfang zu finden? Alternativ wäre ein Filter hilfreich… daher nur 4 statt 5 Sterne.
Great app for those familiar with the original Brass (2007) boardgame
This is an excellent implementation of a great boardgame for playing on iPad. Brass (2007), now called Brass:Lancashire). The screen displays, game board, scoreboard, turn play animations, and turn action options are very clearly presented, and make playing easy for the experienced player. The AI that controls the computer opponents (if played solo) also seems excellent.
I have the actual boardgame but I reached an impasse trying to learn the rules, and so I did the full tutorial in this app for iPad, and then with the printed rulebook in hand, the app ready to play, and the actual boardgame set up identically on my table, I just played through a solo learning game. Overall it’s helped me better understand the game play, but I wish I could stop or at least slow down the computer turn moves so I could learn from how they were playing. I also wish there was a button I could tap to get recommendations for my next move.
So, overall, this is a great implementation for experienced players, and with a couple additional Help features it would be a valuable tool for learning Brass.

It’s okay
Little brother to Brass Birmingham which is a much better game. Notifications don’t work on this app, new games list at the bottom, and a few wonky UI bits that take some getting used to. But it’s generally a good port of an okay game.
Online gaming doesn’t connect / work
Bought Brass app with a friend after seeing it listed on a gaming website as highly rated. Both of us tried to register in the app for their online games but it says no internet connection. We both had same issue. We tried cell and different WiFis. I sent developer (Cublo) a message through their website more than a week ago and no response. Maybe they don’t run their online server anymore. Will ask Apple for a refund

..mit kleinen Schönheitsfehlern. Jede Runde die wählen zu müssen, ob man die CPU Züge animiert sehen möchte nervt auf Dauer. Schön wäre, das einmal einzustellen und dann nur die Übersicht aller inzwischen erfolgten Züge zu sehen, statt jeden einzeln.
Verbindungen sollten auch gebaut werden können, wenn man auf der Karte darauf klick - nicht wie jetzt nur über das Menü (wie bei den Industrien auch möglich eben).
Immer alles zu bestätigen nervt. Zu Beginn war es praktisch. Hier währe eine Option schön. Dinge die automatisiert werden können, sollten automatisiert werden (wenn nur eine Kohle oder ein Eisen verfügbar ist etwa - die gesamte Aktion kann man dann ja immer noch bestätigen müssen; aber nicht jeden Teilschritt - schon gar nicht, wenn es nicht wirklich eine Auswahl gibt. Es kann ja durchaus angezeigt werden, was beim finalen bestätigen alles passiert - etwa um dem Gegner keinen Gefallen zu tun und seine letzte Ressourcen verbrauchen um nicht versehentlich seine Industrie zu aktivieren. Schlussendlich ist manchmal nicht gar klar, warum etwas nicht geht, wenn man das Brettspiel nicht zufällig schon kennt oder die Tutorial peinlich genau studiert. (overbuild; warum eine Verbindung nicht gebaut werden kann (Abgrenzung zwischen eigenem netz, das einem das Bauen ermöglicht und verbundenem netz, was einem den Zugang zu Häfen ermöglicht sollte deutlicher herausgestellt werden). Evtl nochmal ein paar gestünden mit Menschen, die die Regeln noch nicht kennen, durchführen lassen. Ansonsten sehr schönes Spiel!

Deep Strategic Game
I was introduced to the world of Brass through the Birmingham version of the board game, which I have played a couple of times. Someone in my playgroup told me that an app is available so I checked it out. I understand the game a lot better now and have really enjoyed being able to take on the AI, which is pretty good at the difficult level.

Fantastic game but one gripe.
Me and my buddies LOVE this game. This iOS implementation is wonderful. Each week we create a few online games and here’s what we hate: new online games get placed at bottom of the game list. Why is that a problem? No search or scroll mechanics are available and that means 2 or 3 minutes of endless finger swipes just to get down to our game. Doing anything to fix that would be sweet.
I also wish played games could be reviewed and analyzed. Sadly, once game completes, there is no return to look over the board or statistics.

A crunchy classic
Sure, it looks somewhat outdated, but this is a very functional digital edition of the Brass board game (now known as Brass: Lancashire). I use it only for solo play. Wish it got updated with the new visuals and better AI.
A Great Implementation of a Modern Board Game
This is a great implementation of the board game Brass: Lancashire by Martin Wallace. It is a tense economic board game where you try to outsmart your opponents - building coal mines, iron works, and cotton mills at the right time.
The hard part is that as you build across England, you can only access the cities connected to your network of canals and railways. When you spend more money than your opponents, you move after them in the following turn.
It ends up being a delicate balance of spending and saving money, while striking at the right time to score points.
The AI is good enough that I have problems beating them in a four-player game, but it really shines with multiplayer. I've been having fun playing with my board game group that moved across the country. The notifications sometimes don't work, so we use Discord to let the next player know when it's their turn.
We also noticed a minor display bug with the distant markets, but it doesn't really affect gameplay.
Overall a great game, even if there is somewhat of a learning curve.

Interface design leaves much to be desired
The implementation of the game is so arcane that it is night on impossible to know what is going on. Many things cannot be easily confirmed without going through tedious steps and clicking around. It is an exercise in futility at best.
If only the notifications worked
I’d give it 5 stars, but my friends and I needed to use a messaging app to alert each other when it was their turn
