Breaker – fragherrnmaurer

Four open strings, four bow positions. Breaker is a brick-breaking game you steer with your violin, viola, cello or double bass. Play the G string and the bow slides to the far left. Play the E string and it slides to the far right. The app listens through the microphone and recognizes which string is sounding — there are no other controls. At the bottom a violin bow keeps the ball in play; at the top waits the wall: sometimes colorful bricks, sometimes xylophone bars, built as a scale, a tuning fork or a fortress. The ball bounces off the bow hair, bricks burst into little notes — and from the gaps fall stars and hearts to catch, or pianos, double basses and harps you had better dodge. WHAT IT IS REALLY ABOUT Changing strings quickly and cleanly, without looking — an exercise nobody does voluntarily. Here you know at once whether you hit it: the bow is in place, or the ball drops. No explanation needed. FOR VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO AND DOUBLE BASS Each instrument brings its own open strings. Three speeds, from gentle to fast — for the first month of playing as much as for the tenth year. With every wall you clear, the ball gets a little quicker. Left-handed instruments are covered too: a switch flips the string order to match.
