About

With this unique app you can explore the Breamish Valley, located deep in the heart of the Northumberland National Park in the Cheviot foothills, it is one of the most important archaeological landscapes in England. You will hear local voices describing just what it is like to live and work there and also experts are on hand to tell you more about why the valley looks like it does today. The pictures in the app relate to 5 different locations along the valley. The focus is to listen – close your eyes and imagine you are on a journey. Let this app be your guide to the stunning countryside where you will find anything from Neolithic and Bronze Age burials to hillforts, farmsteads, field systems and deserted medieval villages. Be tempted by the call of the curlew and the rushing river. The haugh land (pronounced "hoff") either side of the River Breamish has been visited by generations of visitors to picnic and to wile away the day watching the wildlife around them. Come, bring your own picnic and walk in the footsteps of your ancestors. A portion of the download fee for this app will go to the Good Nature Fund, which helps pay for countryside management in the area.
