About

Britain, by the facts. Ask any question about the United Kingdom in plain English and get the answer as it actually stands in the official statistics: the exact figures, a chart, the query that produced them, and a sources line naming the series and the publisher. Every answer comes from a warehouse of 6,482,186 official observations across 1,647 series from 380 official sources, reaching from consumer prices in 1209 and Bank Rate in 1694 to last month's labour market, inflation and NHS figures. Every source is reconciled against its publisher's own headline before it loads, so a figure in the app matches the figure in the official release. It never estimates, never forecasts, and never fills a gap from general knowledge. If the data is not held, it says so plainly and names the official dataset that could answer it. What you can ask Which constituency has the worst fuel poverty? How has the NHS waiting list changed since 2007? Which parts of Britain have become poorer relative to the national average over the last 15 years? Chart Bank Rate since 1694. Compare health spending with the waiting list over the last decade. How it works Type a question. Simple lookups appear instantly as you type and are always free. A curated library of common questions answers instantly and free. Anything else runs live analysis over the warehouse: real queries, a real chart, one credit. Simple questions take about half a minute, full briefings with charts a few minutes, and you can leave the app while it works. Privacy Your questions are never stored on our servers. Nothing is shared unless you choose to offer a question to the public library. Credits Live analysis costs real compute, so it uses credits bought in the app in packs of 10, 20 and 50 questions. Library answers and instant lookups never cost a credit. Sources include the Office for National Statistics, NHS England, Public Health Scotland, the Department for Work and Pensions, the Department for Education, the Home Office, the Bank of England, HM Revenue and Customs, the Environment Agency, Ofcom and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, all under the Open Government Licence.

What's New in Britain by the Facts

Britain by the Facts has no accounts and no sign-in. It answers questions about the UK using official government statistics from a server side data warehouse. To test: open the app and tap any of the suggested questions on the home screen. These return instantly and free from a curated library, with a chart and cited sources. Typing your own question runs live analysis, which uses credits sold as consumable in-app purchases (10, 20 and 50 questions; a 3 question pack is included in this submission for offer codes). In the review sandbox any pack can be bought at no charge, and the credits are added immediately. Live questions take between 30 seconds and a few minutes; a short quick answer is the default and a full briefing is available from the chip above the ask bar. Answers arrive even if the app is closed, with a notification. Charts arrive with the answer and open full screen when tapped. Every answer shows "How this was checked" with the official sources and the reconciliation checks the data passed.
