1/10

From solitaire to the stock market this app is the worst one on my phone 1/10

No extra value for the price

You keep raising the price but you provide no extra value for it. We still don’t have profiles, and you don’t are holding back the new episodes of Mrs. Brown’s Boys. BBC bought BritBox a while ago so there’s no more excuse for not having the new episodes on the platform.

Difficult to Navigate

No easy way to specifically find movies. Everything is a tv show. No button to take you right to your favorites list. Did England just never make any good movies?

Content is good, delivery is horrible

Wish I could give negative stars. Programming is good but delivery platform constantly gives errors, cutting out, and needs restarting at least 8 times in an episode. We subscribe to other streaming services and do not have these issues.

The pay wall never ends

Subscribed for a year, largely to see the documentary on China, only to find another paywall. Very disappointed in such
deceptive marketing.

$20 Price Increase??

I’ve been with BritBox for quite a few years now and enjoy the app very much. While I understand a price increase each year as the cost of doing business, this increase seems a bit steep. Hopefully this cost adjustment comes with additional benefits to its customers and the occasional crashing of the app is less frequent. Make the increase worth it to those of us that have supported you over the years!

Horrible captions/No AirPods Support

Closed captions are impossible to read, and you can’t use AirPods. While content is OK, I don’t recommend because of the app.

I pay to only watch 1 show I shouldn’t have to see ads for shows I don’t want

I only pay to watch classic Doctor Who used to be 7$ with no ads now it’s $11 with ads either the ads go or I do I pay to watch classic Doctor Who. It’s expensive enough why should I constantly having to skip ads.

At $70 a year?

it was a good deal during the pandemic. But the price has since gone $70 a year to $125 a year. The shows are ok. For the pricing, I took my niece to My Chemical Ronace at Soldier Field in Chicago. This year, we’re going to Riot Fest. And we’re not paying obnoxious streaming charges to do it🤪

Finally PiP!!!!

Aug 11 2026 update: sound drops during PiP. Pls help!

I cannot thank the developers enough for this long awaited key improvement.

no autoplay

autoplay will not work no matter what i do. really hard to get a good binge sesh in when you have to keep manually selecting the next episode. really harshing my mellow

Adequate, just.

This review is for the app., not the content. Slow, clunky and resource hungry. Requires about 4GB of free space to download a 700MB episode. This is not an issue I have on other apps. I fly a lot, so I rely on downloads a fair bit. The end result is that I use one of the other apps instead. If I struggle to download stuff, there really is no point having it.
As an example, I just tried downloading an episode of a series I’m watching on BritBox and was denied due to lack of space (episode was about 680MB which is a bit excessive but shouldn’t have mattered). I then went to Disney and downloaded 7 episodes of a couple of shows (totalling about 2GB) and still haven’t reached my limit of free space!
Edit
I wrote the above perhaps a year ago, maybe more. Things have not improved. In actual fact they have got worse. I can no longer download any content at all (most up to date version installed). The little circle that should fill does not move at all. Even after half an hour, nothing.
This is the most horrendous streaming app. known to mankind.
Edit
After a few months of not being able to download, that side of things is now resolved.
Unfortunately the app is still garbage. Constant closing and reopening of the app is required. Then because of that, it’s forgotten where you were up to and will send you back to the start - it shouldn’t, but that’s what it does.
On top of that, it’s lost the ability to cast to my tv.
Words cannot describe how truly awful this app is.
Edit.
A few more months down the track and nothing has improved. I have to reboot my iPad just to download anything.
Still one of the clunkiest apps around.
Downloading is a mission, never remembers where you were up to.
Barely functional.

So Much for Loyalty

They’ve now added BritBox Premium. This has resulted in them promoting shows on various platforms & newsletters that only give you the first few episodes free. Then they want a fee increase to $150 to finish the show they convinced you to start. Throw the tea!

Premier package options

I love BritBox...its the 1st app i run and open everyday to watch or see whats added or coming soon...My only complaint like many others i am seeing now is for the PREMIER PACKAGE....I dont think its fair that its only as a Yearly option n not monthly and we who dont have pkg have to wait a whole week to week to watch the episodes...that is absolutely crazy ...and ive just recently noticed few new shows available that u have to have pkg to watch n dont see them in the coming soon or if are its like a 1-2 month wait from dates i see under episodes(again insane)
Really hope Britbox is taking the paying viewers requests about Premier seriously and it happens..ahhh esp too instead of the monthly price increase i receive ...ive had 4 increases in approx 12-15 months...thats not right esp w/this premier situation..for $$ payed should b getting Premier !!
Thx for a fantastic app ..and for reading my review !!

Must Do Better

Good selection on British programming. However, the actual app is poor and hard to navigate. So confusing.

Love Britbox!!

I would love to have the premium version, but I am unable to afford the annual payment. Could you make it monthly?

Apple TV

Bad service - getting so tired of the bad service. Now being subjected to constant adds saying I’m not a good enough customer and have to pay “extra” for the ability to see ‘future’ episodes… now we have notices to enter our password every two minutes.

What a sorry excuse for an entertainment app! Acorn here we come!!!

Please add monthly premier it’s time

As I keep saying people would like a monthly Premier Subscription option, please consider doing this now, as people are screaming out for it. It’s a superb choice of British television, both new and old, with various genres of viewing but wish that the new premier offerings were available on a monthly subscription basis and not just a yearly subscription.

Two Different Apps

I enjoyed my free trial. I liked a lot of your original programming. I do not like the fact that to unlock your entire catalogue of shows one must pay the annual premier price of $149.99. So poor folk, like myself, that pay monthly only get access to half of your shows. That’s greedy, you will not get any more of my money.

Limited viewing

I pay for the monthly subscription but there are some shows that only let you watch the first few episodes and then you have to pay the $150/yr to finish watching. Disappointing!
