When Was The Last Time You Updated?

Why am I have trouble changing the tips of the drawing or painting effect I want? I can not get brushes to change to a fade tip circle. It keeps switching back to a square which does not give me a smooth airbrush look I’m trying to achieve. Is this a glitch? Am I doing something wrong or did I miss something? I am using an iPad A16 brand new. But this was also a problem on my iPad 6th generation. Why aren’t my brush tips staying when I try to change them?

Really good but 1 thing…

Brushes is a really good app that uses simple things to make really detailed drawings. There is just 1 thing that I would really love is that there were more save colour slots. Because there’s so little you’re in a way forced to overwrite your even most beautiful colours, which I think is sad.

Can’t find the feature I wanted

I bought this app because it was recommended by a visual artist for playback recordings. Unfortunately, there is no feature like that in the app and if there is, can you share that here.

Response from developer

Hi, I’m sorry that the person who recommended the app told you about a feature that isn’t currently available. Playback of the painting process is a planned future addition. Thanks.

Newbie

I like the simplicity of this app.
As a newbe im not sure how things work. With blending I’ve been using the smudge tool in Procreate.
I assume there isn’t one in Brush, can anyone help?
Is there any way of getting instructions/manual as it would help me a lot.
Thanks

Hi. Thank you for your feedback. There is a link to the Brushes YouTube channel in the gallery menu.

This is a good app review

You know the app spark that is what I want this app to be like From: Taylor.scroby

Let down by major auto save issues

This is a simple drawing app that lets you create high-quality artwork but there is a serious bug which causes significant problems sometimes. If you are choosing a new app, then I would strongly recommend not getting this despite the good features.

What happens is that sometimes auto save does not work so that when you exit the app you find that none of the changes have been applied. Several times are found that all the work of an extended working session had not been saved which can be imagined is incredibly frustrating. Since I’ve had to use the app for some work, I have been obliged to stop every few minutes to find out if it has saved which is not an ideal workflow.

A good place to start

I already have more robust (albeit pricier) apps and I am not sure why I thought they would have the same features plus something else unattainable, but there’s really no need for this one as it doesn’t offer anything they don’t already offer.

If you are just starting out, this is a really good price for what it does do- for example you can use layers and adjust the brushes to make your own brushes. I’m just spoiled. A very decent app for this price point, however.

Love it!

Even though I still miss the original Brushes app (from 2009!) and love Brushes Redux, this version of Brushes is fantastic. I’m still working out setting up different brushes, but so far-it’s just so fast, intuitive and fun to use. Unlike some other painting app’s, Brushes 4 is not convoluted and painstaking to use. If you’re like me and just want to get working, and not fiddle around with endless boring steps to get there, then this app is for you. As an ex-graphic designer and current practising fine artist, I can honestly say, there is no other app out there that will give you that beautiful, unique and special ‘Brushes look’ that this app does do well. It truly is in a league of its own. *The only thing that needs fixing is the brush-size slider. It keeps jumping by default to a larger size setting-before you start to draw?’ Very frustrating! However, for less than a coffee to buy-it’s a steal in this day and age! No stupid subscription either. Welcome back Brushes. I’m sure David Hockney will be happy too.

Response from developer

Hi, thank you for such lovely feedback, that made our day. Regarding the brush size changing, each brush rememberers that size it was last used. So each time you change brushes you may see a size change. If that isn’t what you are experiencing, please get in touch by email and we’ll work it out.

soooo good

I love this app and it has been a great investment!

Nun

Das Programm ist identisch mit dem veralteten „Brushes Redux“.
Nett aber halt auch nicht mehr.

A question…

I love this app!
I have a query though..
I’m doing a set of sketches that I’m recording on ipad screenshot as I draw them,to make short videos that I then add my own piano music to.
However every time I press ‘brush undo’ those words appear in the centre of the screen, spoiling the video in progress.
Is there any way to stop that appearing?
Im trying to get various video effects happening including reverse by manipulating what I record on screenshot and to have ‘brush undo’ in the centre of the screen is preventing this from being possible.
That aside tho..the app is great!.
Cheers,Nick

Very Poor

This is a waste of money. The app is too cumbersome to allow any enjoyment whatsoever. This is the worse Christmas present ever.

Won’t load my photos

Hmmm. This just gives me a blank page when I try to load a photo

Heart of gold

I thought that you liked me
But you only liked me for my money , my money
I thought that you liked me
But you ripped me apart from the start

You have a heart of gold
You took my money
And threw away my love
And now I’m ruined
But now I think it made me stronger

I thought that you cared for me
But you only cared for me for my money, my money
I thought that you cared for me
But you ripped me apart from the start

You have a heart of gold
You took my money
And threw away my love
And now I’m ruined
But now I think it made me stronger

I thought that I could trust you
But I guess you don’t feel the same

Bugs keep piling up

Can't place images from the gallery anymore. This app is not well-maintained. For $2, it was worth the time I got out of it before it broke so badly, but I can't recommend it anymore without that feature.

Response from developer

Hi, I'm sorry to hear you are having problems with Brushes. Please email us with the paintings causing the issue (in Brushes format) and we can look into diagnosing the cause for you. Thanks.

Very good

Given that this is free, it’s actually very good. Selecting colours, creating palettes etc. If you are a painter it’s easy to use and can replicate glazing and layering. I’ve used it as a sketching tool in the Ashmolean gallery in Oxford (UK). Allegedly it’s the app David Hockney uses to make his iPad paintings.
