Does not connect
I have a gen 3 100w and when it scans for devices all it shows is a black screen it does not connect at all

When I download a preset from tone exchange it takes 30 to 60 seconds for it to actually load on the amp. Also, the LEDs on the app go out of sync with the LEDs on the amp.

great amp not as great app. definitely needs work, gotta sign back in every time i open the app. very rare it works like its supposed to.
Terrible app that lets down Boss
Update. Impossible to use with Artist Series mk 3. When I use in combination with a foot switch, app seems to discard effect settings that were previously selected on the patch and also things like amp volume etc. Found it is totally un-usable to make quick tweaks on the fly which makes it pointless. Think there is a problem between interaction of foot switch, amp and app. Boss - very disappointing and your developers need to fix this. Also, regularly loses connection with MIDI adapter and then can’t get it back. Terrible user experience in UI. Way too clunky and no thought to how users might use it. Boss needs to put some investment into this as it is the way the industry is moving. At the moment.. this app is terrible.

Good but...
The app itself is great it just needs landscape veiw and overall needs to have the bluetooth integrated into the amp also it just needs to be simplified

Why does Boss make a great amp but garbage apps to go with them? Really strange that they should get it so wrong.
Forgets library
Best part is how when it signs you out from the Roland account (forcibly) then forgets everything you had in your library… or if you shut off the amp while the app is still searching for the Bluetooth connection it also yeets all memory.
I mean it works…
If you can get past the outdated/slightly confusing user interface then this app is great! Additional FX and extra parameters in the app make dialing tones that much more fun. With all the extra control you get in the app, the Bluetooth module is very worth it. Just wish they would overhaul the UI. I want landscape mode on my iPad!

Download this app if you want to spend all your practice time screwing around with an incredibly poorly designed piece of software that evades all intuition and casual attempts at understanding what should be a very straightforward function. Get ready to spend hours fussing with this before giving up and wasting even more time taking a tutorial.

Why no landscape mode
I just don’t understand why we can’t add landscape support to this app. It just makes sense when using the app on a tablet.

Nobody does anything real holding their phone in their hand. It’s on a table or stand or iPad in a case

I can’t find anywhere to update it and it won’t connect unless I update it someone please help me
App Sucks
Really a headache to use search filters which don’t work half the time, occasionally library will disappear entirely so make sure to like to save every single liveset you download, I get signed out completely randomly, the BTS is an eyesore and could be done much better, the premise of this app is great and so is its functionality but it SUCKS to use.

Worst app ever
Im a software engineer and this might be literally the worst app ive ever used. Barely pairs with your amp. Forces a login on EVERY download of amp preset. Unusably bad and makes the katana a worse experience than if this app didnt exist
Should not be allowed on App Store
Total piece of trash. Ask for identification every three seconds, doesn’t upload presets properly, can’t manage Bluetooth connection properly, take ages to react, lose settings and library all the time.

Handy!
Great for tweaking your Katana when you’re away from your PC. Especially if you have a model that doesn’t have some of the additional panel switches for advanced functions. (Katana 50 has no “cab resonance” switch, for example - so can only be adjusted via the app or desktop BTS).
My main concern is how long the app will remain supported, since BOSS haven’t updated the app in nearly a year… I suspect the amp will survive a LOT longer than the app, but we shall see… the UI is also a bit lacklustre compared to the third-party Katana Librarian app. But at least this one is free.
