Secure and solid in crowds
I heard about Buddy through a friend who used it at a festival and tried it at one of the Indivisible demonstrations. It was perfect to use to coordinate with my friends where data is unreliable and privacy is key. I dropped a Spot when I got separated from them and we were able to find each other very easily. I also love that the messaging is encrypted. Very important for this type of work. Not to mention just being able to communicate offline when in such a huge crowd.

Didn’t work
Tried using at festival and was pretty much worthless. Wouldn’t work and kept getting stuck updating data.
Did not work
Tried this at a festival a few weeks ago and we were all left without commmunication. The app is not user friendly and takes forever to load up friend requests and nearly everything else. Wouldn’t recommend. Was a waste of time setting it up for my friend group
Instructions unclear
My friends and I downloaded it for a festival and were unsure how to use it. The built in tutorials didn’t make a lot of sense, and even when we turned location to always on and switched to festival mode, my friends and I couldn’t see each other. It’s a great idea in theory, but none of the 12 of us could figure it out so it’s safe to say it’s not new user friendly. Really bummed.

Worked until I needed it
Tested it out before a festival. Worked seemingly well. Went to use it just prior to an event. And it’s stuck trying to download something for offline use.
Reinstalled, restarted. Does not work.
