Very poor tracking app

Not the best tracking app. The only benefit to the app is that it converts everything into checks for you. The app itself is so basic and for £9.99 its really hard to justify the cost. When tracking it doesn’t break it down into meal times, just a long list of everything you’ve ate in the day. You can’t save recipes to then use over and over again. So manually have to enter every ingredient each time you make a meal. You can’t copy the same things over from one day to the next unless you save as a favourite and even at that it’s individual items/ingredients. It’s a very very very basic app. For the cost you would be better downloading another food tracker and converting the checks yourself.

Help with app

Hi I need an email address removed from my app
As Scottish slimmers advice there are more than one and is causing glitches and not letting the app correctly add in checks . Can someone contact me please. Thanks

Not as good

App not as good as it was previously no option to save your own recipes to add to your diary anymore you have to work out the calories etc yourself then create an item !

Could easily be improved with just a couple of tweaks!

Please can you make it easier to add in things you eat every day. Either allow copying across days, or even just change the default weight in favourites to what you want. If I eat a smoothie for breakfast every day, I have to add each ingredient in every day, changing the weight of each item. It takes ages!
Also can you provide more information on Everyday Essentials.

Terrible

I have used the Scottish slimmers app for a few years now and it has always been good, however now that it has been upgraded it’s horrendous, things are hard to find you can’t store recipes etc. I have tried to cancel and can’t I’m being charged £17.99 every 3 months for nothing , awful.

Shocking

Old app was the best ever diet app I’ve followed. This new updated one is horrible and not user friendly at all. Who ever made this change deserves to be shot

Waste of money.

I have followed Scottish Slimmers for years. I was keen to try this new app but I am left very very disappointed. The app has lots of bugs and doesn't work very well at all.

When you reach your every day essentials goal , it congratulates you leaving a message on your daily diary (nice ) but then the screen goes dark and stays that way.

The food search isn't in alphabetical order which makes things more difficult to search for. The food search also doesn't let you search for one egg for example, you have to input the grams.

It also doesn't recognise no need to count vegetarian food like quorn, it adds the checks when it should free on the feel good plan.

When you add an item that hasn't scanned or add your own item doesn't allow you to delete or edit it. It also doesn't allow you to add your own recipe now.

The check count is very confusing , if you go over your daily checks it takes them off your flexi checks as it should, but the whole week count doesn't take into consideration the days your checks have been under . This leaves you thinking you have less checks left than you do. It would make more sense to have the flexi checks taken off once you have reached your weekly checks allowance.

Your weight loss so far only shows the amount you have lost from the previous week not from the day you started so you have to work out your total weight loss yourself.

I have contacted Scottish Slimmers direct and just got a very short , cheeky reply. Their customer services is awful.

There's just too many things wrong with the whole set up. it's very frustrating and unpleasant to use. It would be easier going back to using a notepad.

Such a shame as the last app was brilliant, much easier and nicer to use and the customer service was great. I use a lot of apps, and this by far is the worst one. Don't wasted your time or money - use MyFitnessPal instead.

Checks not adding

Great app. But was Glitch in the systems. Checks not adding. Then adding twice contacted them about it. Got cheeky reply. Lots of other apps available. Worth looking when you have to pay.

Don’t waste your money

What a waste of time. No different to free calorie counting apps such as MyFitnessPal other than maybe a couple of recipes.

Upgrade of looks, downgrade of function

The new app seems to have less products in it, unable to add meals and generally less functionality. Also comes up with errors and you need to go onto the website to change details. Avoid until they fix make it half as decent as the old version.

Oh dear... so disappointing.

Genuinely disappointed at how grim this app is. I was excited to have a low cost app with an eating guide that looked to be achievable and adaptable. The app has spelling errors ‘you’re free trail ends in 7 days’ ??!!? Oh jings. Tried to pop my breakfast eggs in and I’m presented with options such a 3kg boxes of eggs. Um, just 2 single eggs was sufficient but okay.... I guess if maybe you want to weigh everything or eat only packaged food then possibly would work. Scottish Slimmers used to be so successful back in the day but this app is woeful and I’m curious as to who thought it was user friendly in it’s design? There’s not even a list of foods that don’t require checks if you’re on the different plans, you’d have to grind through the categories if you have time to do so, in which case safe yourself the time and (admittedly smaller amount of) money and just calorie count on a free app. Sorry, SS but such a let down!!

Can’t use this app

Like the other reviews I loved the previous app. The current one I find is not suitable for me and I can’t work out how to use it. Such a shame as I’ve always found Scottish slimmers to have the diet plan

Gone Backwards

This app is terrible. The app that they had a few years back was far superior to what they have now. What I can’t understand is why they made changes to the app that they had previously by taking away decent features! It is impossible to make a meal now and save it on the app, and why it no longer shows what your everyday bonus foods are is beyond me. Save yourself the money and use something else. A pen and paper is just as easy as trying to use this app.

Very disappointing

I used the previous app which logged everything very easily was effective.

This, however, is a total scam. It just doesn’t remember details, you can’t save meals and is utterly frustrating.

Give it a wide berth.

Terrible App - has potential

This app awful to use. The barcode scanner did not recognise about 50% of my scanned items , despite these being well known brands (particularly Tesco own brand for some reason). It also did not allow for recipe creation - so for instance a stew or bolognaise batch cook with 12+ ingredients you had to enter each every time. So time consuming !

The search function was also rubbish - not even close most times.

Cancelled after a 9 days. It’s ashame because the diet structure itself works but the app completely ruins it. Customer support (SS not apple) also terrible regarding use and limitations of the app.

Would not recommend.

Doesn’t correctly point fruit

No matter how many pieces of fruit I put in a day they are all free!!! This was not the case with previous app as allocated free allowance and then counted points for additional- find this and other changes make the app unusable.

Not great, old app was 100 times better.

I have been with Scottish slimmers in the past and found it very helpful especially the app, how quick and easy it was to navigate, but this app is a complete waste of money. Just wasted £17.99.

Contradicting, unusable!!

I have used Scottish Slimmers on and off for years, and the app before was so easy to use before this upgrade. There is a lot of contradicting values for GC & FG foods, what is printed in the books isn’t so on the app & where you could search your item & only the item searched would come up along with picture, too many search results and ones that don’t even have your searched terms in it. This in my opinion isn’t an upgrade but a downgrade. It makes the diet not make any sense as most values are contradictory to the books and you need both to make sense in order to follow it properly. If it’s not broke don’t try and fix it, it was fine as it was!!

Taken something simple and effective and made it user UNfriendly!

Below is my review of the original SS app, which I gave 5 stars. I’ve removed this rating and given it only 1 star following the update of the app. I notice that the Developer’s response to other (critical) reviews is to say that the app offers everything the previous app did, plus more. I have to contradict them on this. Not only have I lost recipes I had saved on my app, which enabled me to add a single portion size to my daily food diary, but the re-developed app no longer offers the facility to enter your own recipe and calculate Checks per portion and add to the food diary! The food diary no longer shows when you’ve reached your veg and calcium requirements, something that I found very helpful! Tracking weight loss is not as ‘graphic’ either - it’s simply a list of weigh ins by date. I understand something needed to be done for followers of the Feel Good plan but the developers have made a huge mistake changing the app for users of the Classic Checks plan. Perhaps a separate app should have been created for Feel Good users. Unless the app is updated to incorporate the recipe facility I won’t be renewing it when my subscription expires at the end of this month...

The Scottish Slimmers diet plan has got to be one of the easiest to stick to, in part because it's so easy to work out how many 'checks' a food will 'cost' (unlike another well known diet plan, where you need a maths degree to calculate how many 'points' a food is worth). But for the times when the nutritional value of a food isn't shown on the packaging (or pro-rated for its weight) this app is a must have! It saves looking up your Check Book, you can simply type in the search box whatever food you're looking for and then enter the weight or helping size. If the item has a barcode then it's even simpler - you can just scan and add the item to your daily checker!

This app has so much to help keep you on track - aside from giving check values and tracking food on the daily checker you can also calculate and add checks for exercise, track your weight loss and waist size, view your weekly flexichecks, create and save your own recipes to calculate Check value per helping and add it to your daily checker, save favourite food items for easy access, and more!

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding... I have done this plan in the past by attending classes but now live in England, with no classes available. I still have all my books for the plan, but haven't used them since purchasing this app. I started my diet 5 weeks ago and have lost 10lbs in that time as I have no excuse for not tracking what I'm eating. It won't make you lose weight, and it won't give you the basics of how to use the diet plan (so if you've never done it before you would need to join a class initially or buy the books online) but it will give you the tools you need to track your eating and weight loss.

USED to be such a good app

I previously attended Scottish slimmers and paid for the app. I understand that Scottish slimmers has been bought over since all the classes shut. But I thought I’d still use the app, as it used to be fantastic.
However this new app is poor and a total disappointment compared to the old one. Badly laid out and tricky to navigate. Plus basic foods from Aldi were not found in the search function.
So I will not be paying £6.99 a month to use this.
The NUTRACHECK app is so similar to the old Scottish slimmers app, it’s cheaper and easier to use. Which is a shame Scottish Slimmers, as I was keen to return to you. But not until you up your game
