About

There is no federal severance minimum. Nothing in US law says your employer owes you a payout at all. What there is: an offer, a tax bill most people underestimate, an agreement nobody reads, and a federal notice law that may not have applied at all. ByeByeJob handles all four. The calculator is free. It stays free. THE CALCULATOR — FREE Enter a severance offer as weeks-per-year of service or as a flat amount and the app estimates what it is actually worth: • Federal income tax, bracket by bracket, for your filing status • Social Security and Medicare (FICA), including the wage base • State income tax at a rate you enter • Accrued PTO and a pending bonus • Gross and net, side by side Figures are current to tax year 2026: brackets, standard deductions and the Social Security wage base. THE WARN ACT CHECK — FREE The federal WARN Act requires sixty days' notice of a qualifying plant closing or mass layoff. Whether it applied to yours turns on the size of your employer, the number of people let go, and the share of the site's workforce that went with you — the one-third-of-site test almost nobody mentions. The app walks the statutory tests and tells you what it cannot see. THE REST OF IT — FREE • Red flags — questions about how your layoff was handled, and why each matters • A guided checklist across four stages: at risk, consultation, notice served, after you leave • Meeting preparation — what to ask, and what to write down • Key dates, kept as a list in the app • Somewhere to keep the paperwork — attach the letters and the agreement; they sit in the app's own private storage on your phone UK MODE IS BUILT IN TOO Switch countries and the app calculates UK statutory redundancy pay — which, unlike the US, is a real legal floor with a formula. WHERE THE NUMBERS COME FROM — FREE Every statutory figure in the app links out to the IRS, DOL, GOV.UK or ACAS page it came from, and records the date it took effect. You do not have to take our word for any of it — check it yourself, at the source. Not our numbers. The law's. BYEBYEJOB PRO — ONE PAYMENT • Export a calculation as a PDF you can keep, print or send on • Letter and email templates — asking for terms in writing, negotiating an offer, asking for more time, querying WARN notice, requesting a reference • Offer breakdown — your offer set out item by item with its own arithmetic beside it. There is no federal statutory minimum to measure it against, and the app says so rather than invent one • The clause explainer — paste a passage from a severance agreement; it matches the clauses in its library and explains them in plain English One payment, once. No subscription and nothing to cancel. The calculator is never taken away, and Restore Purchase is in the app whether or not you have bought anything. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO Worth knowing before you install, not after. • These are estimates for guidance. They are not legal, tax or financial advice. • US results are federal only. State income tax is a rate you type in yourself, and state mini-WARN laws are not modeled, so a federal-only answer can under-report. • The tax figure is an estimated annual liability. Employers withhold severance at the flat supplemental rate, so it will not match a paycheck. • Unemployment benefits, COBRA and retirement plan rollovers are not calculated. • UK income tax uses the rest-of-UK bands; Scottish rates are not modeled. • The clause explainer matches a curated library of clauses. It is not a language model and it does not read a whole document. NO ADS. NO ACCOUNT. YOUR FIGURES STAY ON YOUR PHONE. No sign-up, no profile, no advertising and no tracking. Your salary, your dates and any paperwork you attach are held on the device. The one thing the app talks to is the store — to show the Pro unlock's price in your own currency, and to complete or restore a purchase. The privacy policy linked here sets out the detail. Made by Froggy Eye Ltd. Useful apps. No ads. No dark patterns.

What's New in ByeByeJob

1.1.0

August 11, 2026

ByeByeJob is now free to download. The whole calculator — both countries, and every check — is free, and it stays free. NEW • ByeByeJob Pro, an optional one-time unlock: PDF export of a calculation, the letter and email templates, offer breakdown and the clause explainer. One payment, no subscription, and the calculator is never taken away. • PDF export itself is new in this release. It did not exist in version 1.0. FIGURES REFRESHED • US tax year 2026: federal brackets, standard deductions and the Social Security wage base. • UK 2026/27: the week's-pay cap and the maximum statutory redundancy payment, uprated 6 April 2026, plus current income tax and National Insurance thresholds. • Every figure now records the official page it came from and the date it took effect. FIXED • The head-of-household tax table used the wrong bracket thresholds. • The WARN Act check did not apply the one-third-of-site rule correctly. • The US result overstated total gross income by one standard deduction and disagreed with the bracket rows beneath it. • Key dates and attached documents were lost when the app was closed. They persist now. • Both calculator forms could keep showing a stale result after an input changed — and an exported PDF could carry those superseded figures.
