Don’t waste your money
I don’t even know what this is supposed to be some dos Oregon trail version of the c&o
Map might need update
The western Maryland Rail Trail now extended past Little Orleans.
I did not buy this. Why was I just charged $2.99?
Dear James Menzies - please issue me a refund. I am in the painful process of trying to switch back to iPhone after 4 years using Android. It’s possible I tried to buy this app 4 years ago when I last had iPhone. But I have no clue why Apple charged me $2.99 this weekend, immediately after getting a new iPhone and reactivating my iCloud account. I did not search for or try to install this app. (Apple wouldn’t let me use my new phone unless I put in a valid CC number, so it was easy for iCloud to rip me off.) I went to iCloud to request a refund but it has no history of this app purchase. Well, it sent me an email about the charge so clearly Apple knows. (Pro tip - use limited use credit card numbers created at privacy dot com when sketchy companies like Apple request your CC number to keep on file.)

Not up to date
This would be very helpful but it is not kept up to date. It didn’t have the 45 min detour around Paw Paw tunnel or the other 1/2 hour detour further down the trail listed.
Riding C&O and gap
I just downloaded this app and I will be using it later this week when riding the C&O trail. It already knows my location even though I am across the country. It looks like it will be well used and very invaluable. Is there an app like this for the GAP trail?
Fantastic App for C & O Towpath!
This app works great out on the trail. Really helpful to have distance information to the necessary locations. Very fond of the emergency buttons as well. Thanks!
Having a gps problem
The app thinks I’m at mm 148. I live closest to nolands ferry.
Great App
Just rode the C&O from Cumberland to DC for the second time, and it would have been nice to have this app 10 years ago! Stopped at Barron’s Store for ice cream and snacks, and talk with the Tyler family...it was the last day of the season as they were closing a bit early this year. I let them know about the app and they were happy to see it and the details being published for the store. Also used the app to plan exit and dinner at Buddy Lou’s in Hancock and check the trail status in a couple areas that were closed 10 years ago and one area the Tylers told me was a slight detour due to a washout of the trail. Otherwise it is a great reference and is up to date, and it does sync for me... Also used it to track down mile 0 marker that I missed 10 years ago. Great app and worth every penny!

Won’t sync
Just downloaded this app. Keeps telling me to sync for first time use. I’ve done that multiple times to no avail. I have the map section but no listings for amenities. Very frustrating especially since this isn’t a free app.
Update August 4th. App now syncs. Wish it was done sooner before I completed my C & O trip but better late then never. I did enjoy the map function while on the trail

I Want a Refund
This app may have worked when first released - but in 2019 it does not work. I am unable to complete the synch for first use. Have removed the app and reinstalled twice to no avail.
Would be happy to pay $2.99 if the app worked for the C&O trail as described - but with a corrupt database the app is useless.
Save yourself the aggravation and do NOT buy this app. And James - if you read these reviews - I’d like a refund.

This app is terrible, $2.99 wasted
I really wanted to give this app a great rating after having seen it work on Android. I immediately downloaded for IOS only to find the app won’t sync, at all. Even after following direction to delete the app and rebooting phone to clear the database. Doing anything at all the app crashes. If I can’t use it it’s of no use. Total garbage and waste of $2.99. Questionable who it really supports. Oh, and no stars for this. Don’t buy it for IOS.

SMH
Buyer beware. I just bought this app and I can’t get the app to sync. No maps. Useless.
Best $3 I ever spend
Was worth it just for a day. Going to use it in a few weeks to do the whole towpath.
Don't work on ipad
Bought for iPad - this is an iPhone app. But it should work. Why not? Nope. I tell it manually that I am at mile 58 (harpers ferry) and the amenities listed at that location….. none. null set. nada. Love the website. This is a GREAT service. Not upset if I pushed a little money to the author of the website as it is wonderful. But it no work on iPad.

Buggered
Crashes every time you select a button for services, lodging, food, etc. Only the GPS map option works, which is unnecessary since markers are a mile apart and easily seen on the trail. Waste of money and useless on this trip.
Excellent app!
Great app for finding things along the canal!.
Need a NATIVE app for Blackberry 10 OS

My favorite biking app
Most of my "long" rides have some component of the C&O involved… this app is a super helpful resource if only to answer the question I usually have: "where the heck am I?" Knowing where the closest H/B campsite is relative to my current location… where the closest "civilization point" is… super useful. If you're going to be on the C&O for any reason, for any length of time, this is a tremendous resource. Worth every penny.
UPDATE Oct 2012 - I am honestly puzzled by the one star reviews. I've never had a problem with the app, and I've used it many times from mile 0 in DC all the way to Cumberland. Still my favorite biking app, and I wish there was a comparable one for the GAP!

Useless
I was looking forward to using this app while on the C&O. Unfortunately it didn't work at all the entire time I was on the trail so it was useless, a waste of $2.99. Every time I loaded the app it said that it was looking for my location. All of my other GPS based apps worked fine but not this one. Really disappointed.

1.1.1 does not work with OS 6, yet
And I'm going on a ride today
Handy resource
Great app -- highly recommend it to anyone riding the C&O towpath. Invaluable for figuring out what's nearby and determining H/B campsites on the fly. Even though cell coverage is spotty along parts of the C&O, my network was always available, making this app worth the money. Thanks to whoever put this app together!
