About

Cadence is a native iOS client for Healthchecks, the open-source monitoring service you run on your own server. It answers one question fast: is anything broken? Checks sort worst-first, so a failing backup is at the top of the list before you've finished unlocking your phone. REQUIRES YOUR OWN SERVER Cadence has no backend and no account. You point it at a Healthchecks instance you host — over HTTPS, or plain HTTP on your home network — and paste in an API key. If you don't run Healthchecks, this app has nothing to show you. Not sure yet? Open it and tap "Try the demo". Sample data, no server, no setup. WHAT YOU GET • A dashboard that puts problems first, with search, filters by status and tag, and your choice of sort • Full detail for every check: schedule, grace period, ping history and the timeline of ups and downs • Pause and resume checks, create new ones, edit existing ones • Send a ping by hand — start, success, failure, or log — straight from the check • Notifications on your phone when a check goes down, recovers, or falls behind, with quiet hours and per-status control • Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets showing what's down at a glance • Read-only API keys work fine, with editing hidden rather than broken WHAT IT DOESN'T DO Cadence never touches your server's notification settings. Whatever you have configured there — email, Slack, ntfy, a webhook — keeps working exactly as it is. This app reads your checks and notifies you on this device. It does not reconfigure your infrastructure. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no account, and no server operated by us. Your instance address is stored on your device; your API key lives in the iOS Keychain. Nothing is transmitted anywhere except to the server you chose. BUILT FOR IOS Dynamic Type throughout, VoiceOver labels on everything, Dark Mode, Reduce Motion honoured. Status is carried by shape as well as colour, so it survives greyscale and colour blindness. NOTE ON NOTIFICATION TIMING Cadence checks in the background on iOS's schedule, which means an alert can arrive some minutes after the event rather than instantly. This is a limitation of background execution on iOS, not of your server. If you need immediate alerting, keep your server's own notification channels enabled — Cadence is designed to sit alongside them, not replace them. Healthchecks is an independent open-source project. Cadence is an unofficial client and is not affiliated with it.
