Cadence is unit-management software for military bands. It replaces the mix of spreadsheets, group texts, shared drives, and paper forms that most units run on with one place for everything tracked between drill weekends.
WHAT MEMBERS USE IT FOR
See the events you are rostered on, with your report time, location, and who to find when you get there. Mark yourself present. Request an absence and watch it move up your chain of command, with the reason, the approver, and the decision all on the record. Complete required training and upload your certificates. Acknowledge tasks from HR/Admin and keep your contact details current. See the equipment and keys you have signed for. Read unit announcements, answer polls, and message your section.
WHAT LEADERS AND ADMINISTRATORS USE IT FOR
Build the drill calendar and see at a glance which events still need work: no roster, soldiers with no seat in the convoy, paperwork nobody has started. Take accountability at formation on a screen built to be used while holding a clipboard. Approve absence requests in turn. Assign training and tasks to a squad, a platoon, or the whole band at once. Issue supply, keys, and instruments with signed hand receipts, and keep a key control register. Write counselings and follow up on them. Plan family events and keep the Family Readiness Group's accounts, down to a reconciled monthly balance.
HOW UNITS ARE SET UP
Cadence is organized by unit. Each band is its own tenant, with its own roster, calendar, records, and administrators, and no unit can see another's data. There is no public sign-up: a unit administrator creates accounts and decides which areas each member can reach, and most screens show a member only their own records.
If your band would like a unit set up, get in touch at the support address below and we will add you.
BUILT AROUND HOW UNITS ACTUALLY WORK
Chain of command is a real structure in the app, not a label. Absence requests route through the squad, platoon, and first sergeant who actually hold those positions. Leaders see their own soldiers. Records that need a signature capture a real one. Anything that would normally be a form somebody has to remember to file becomes a task with a name and a date on it.
SECURITY
Sign-in requires two-factor authentication with an authenticator app. Face ID and Touch ID are supported once you have signed in with a password. Home addresses and emergency contacts are visible only to the member, their chain of command, and their unit's administrators.
