Trash app

Amateur hour. Absolute trash. Bait and switch. Database doesn’t even have Starbucks iced coffee. Doesn’t even have original Rockstar energy drink. Forget anything such as a Pure Leaf Cold Brew Tea. Scan the barcode and it asks you to give them info on beverage. Despite deleting all drinks it still says caffeine content 140mg? Cleared all memory cache. Still says 140mg? Will see if tomorrow it resets. Don’t waste a penny on this garbage app.

Great at first

This was the only relatively nice caffeine tracker for a bit. Unfortunately there haven’t been updates and I’m looking for a quicker way to input caffeine. I hope they update because I have so much info on it.

CRASH,Crash,crash!!!

2 phones, updated app, and yet both versions crash as soon as you try to put anything in! Just manually put it in apple health! Because this is rubbish!

I want to like this. It is so close

1. Right now the app is crashing whenever I try to add anything via barcode scanner or when I use haptic touch to add a volume to one of my favorites.
2. Almost all of the preset drinks have no hydration value. That is not a deal breaker, I can add my own custom beverages that have caffeine and water.
3. I wish it had some sort of reminder feature. Like WaterMinder.

Love this app! 💙☕️

This is the perfect app for tracking your caffeine intake. The developer pays attention to detail and has done a great job of incorporating modern iOS features including HealthKit. The watchOS app is the icing on the cake!

Deleted Journal

Automatic updates meant I never had the option to export my journal before the update. Now all of my data and favorites are gone.

Clunky

EDIT: Dev says below that changes are coming with an upcoming update so take that into consideration 👍

It’s all American drinks. It’s hard to work out how to use the app. Some drinks seem to add zero hydration but similar drinks add it. It showed 7 litres earlier when I’ve only drank about 1 litre. Weird.

Why can’t I just define the 3 quick drinks from scratch: give each one a name, assign an icon, and type in an exact amount of caffeine and hydration? Why do I have to select those 3 drinks from lists of weird American stuff and some “home made” drinks which aren’t exactly what I want? What’s the point of tracking caffeine and water at all, if it can’t be accurate?

Wasted a dollar and wasted my time unfortunately.

Useful tracker

Great tool to keep an eye on caffeine intake and it’s good that water intake can be recorded too.
It would be nice to be able to look at some stats and trends, but I’ve been told improvements in these areas are on the way with an impending upgrade.
It’s a handy app.

Cute, but total caffeine for the day always wrong

I liked the look of the UX and this had better reviews than most of the others I found, but though you can edit the log of what you’ve drunk, the total for the day will NOT update with any change. If I add something after midnight for a few hours before (you can edit time in the log) it still says its for the following day. Completely useless for my purposes; planning to delete and see if I can get my dollar back.

It works

Could definitely use some improvements like an update for the Series 4 Apple Watch, ability to add custom icons for custom drinks, support for Siri Shortcuts. All of these things added would make this app five star material, hoping to see an update down the line that includes some/all of this. Good job with the app so far!

Apple Watch App Will Not Download to Phone

The Apple Watch App will not download to my watch after purchase. It doesn’t show up in my list of available apps even though the option to open the app shows on the Apple Watch App Store.

Scan function failure

The app is fine and is helping me monitor my caffeine intake during pregnancy but the scan product function is not really a function. It has not found one single thing I have scanned. If that was fixed I could easily give this 5 stars

Online help could be better

Hard to understand how to setup. Very little guidance or instruction available

Great little app!

I love this app — it does exactly what I need it to ... it helps me track my caffeine and fluid intake. Nice bonus: it ties in with the Apple Health app, so you can see your trends.

Super convenient to use — add beverages from a list, and the app notes the caffeine and fluid intake. For convenience, you can tag your 3 most frequently consumed beverages, so that you can track your consumption of those with a single click.

Such an awesome potential!

This is an awesome app for tracking both hydration and caffeine. The only very annoying problem that the developer seems to be struggling with for the past few months are unit conversions between imperial and metric. I use the app exclusively in metric, however the Today widget seems to interpret the hydration value in mL as oz and converts it again to ml showing a value about 30x the actual. Similar effect happens when adding fractions of custom drinks (e.g. 2 of my custom water glasses).

If not for this issue would be 5 stars. If the app implemented estimated BAC (blood alcohol content) in addition caffeine through HealthKit it would fill a big functionality gap and would be worth spending good money on!

Great App

Thank You so much for this app! It really helps me focus on my water intake and my caffeine. I’m a caffeine addict so it helps to know how much I’ve had throughout the day. And I like that you can date it because sometimes I forget! And of course the addition to Apple health is the BEST! Thank you 😊 so much!!

Exactly what I needed!

When I decided to limit my caffeine, I downloaded all the apps designed to specifically track coffee intake. And after trying them all out, this one is the best by far. The simplicity of the app is exactly what I needed. Just using it for the first week, I was able to cut my caffeine in half. You can add reminders and set limits for the day. I also like that I can track the amount of water I’m drinking. I’ve found that setting limits on my caffeine, coupled with targets for water has helped me switch to better choices in my beverages.

The database is good and growing. But what I will say is that their customer service is excellent. I emailed about a problem I was having with the app and received an immediate reply with a solution. I wish every app was like this. As far as your favorite drinks, if they are not in the database, you can add them manually and also request that they be added to the master database.

If you’re looking for a way to stick to that New Years resolution. This is the perfect app.

Response from developer

Thank you - I'm glad to hear Caffiend is working well for you! Best wishes on your journey to reducing your caffeine intake. 👍🏻

Poor UI, Sad Database

The UI isn’t always intuitive. And there’s some bug that makes it so that adjusting servings doesn’t necessarily update the caffeine intake. Or sometimes you’d go edit the number of servings after the fact and the caffeine intake doesn’t change.

Additionally, there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why some brands of coffee are added and some are not. There is some data for Dunkin Donuts but not Starbucks.

Decent interface but NOT accurate

Easy enough to use, nice that you can set favorites and “quick adds“ (or whatever they call them)…

The caffeine total, however— I started a new day, and added two glasses of “tapwater” (which show caffeine values of 0mg and hydration values of 8oz each)… Back on the dashboard, it shows my 16oz of hydration and 300mg of caffeine!

Moving on

Not as good as other options

It’s confusing to start adding regular home brewed coffee. I also bought this to use with apple watch and it is not working.
