What's New in Cairn Finance
1.3.1
October 2, 2026
Budgets • Set monthly spending limits per category, with one-month overrides and suggestions based on your own history. • Spread a large one-time purchase across several months without changing the transaction or your account balance. • Export budgets as CSV, or reset every limit at once without losing accounts or transactions. Organize • Rules can rename transactions, apply tags, and compact matching rows. Multiple rules now combine, and higher rules win. • See every rule that matched a transaction and open its editor in one tap. • A Review Inbox in Activity gathers uncategorized, unreviewed, and changed transactions, with explanations and undo. Understand your money • A per-currency cash-flow forecast, with bills and income you confirm as your own plans. • Link an outgoing expense to an incoming reimbursement and see gross, received, net, and outstanding amounts. • Insights subtracts categorized reimbursements and adds a category chart with tap-through detail. • Merchant pages collect a merchant's transactions and week, month, and year totals. Investments • A dedicated Investments view with position totals and mix per currency, searchable holdings, and balance history. Widgets, alerts, and Shortcuts • Home Screen widgets for net worth and month-to-date spending, plus forecast widgets for the Home and Lock Screen. • Optional alerts for connection problems, forecast shortfalls, and upcoming plans, each with its own control. • "Sync Cairn" and read-only status actions for Siri, Shortcuts, and Spotlight. Sources and reliability • A Connection Health center showing when each source last synced and what needs attention. • Institution groups on Home show a cached favicon from the institution's own website. • Choose which sections appear in the tab bar or sidebar, and reorder them. Also improved • Card payments and transfers no longer count as spending, and security trades are treated as money movement. • Older history backfills in 45-day pages, and Activity loads as you scroll instead of all at once. • Categories can be added, renamed, recolored, reordered, archived, and deleted when unused. • Manual accounts can be edited in the app, including adding, editing, and deleting single transactions. • Better VoiceOver support across controls and charts, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, and Reduce Transparency. • Sync is more resilient: paused sync resumes on its own, failures stay visible with retry, and offline use is explained. • Your data stays private: CloudKit encrypts every field that reveals financial detail, and iCloud Sync is off by default on new installs.
