Looks and sounds great on paper, and fills a need I’ve been looking for to help out dementia addled parents, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. I don’t know if it’s a lack of testing or foresight, but absolutely nothing about this app is simple, intuitive, or actually working. There is no amount of fiddling with layouts or setups that can actually get anything displayed on the lock screen, or even allow me to pick what to show. I have multiple reminders and calendars for it to pull data from and yet it showed nothing. In the process it deletes my previous wallpaper setup replacing it with nothing but black and a poorly composited image of a widget with the drop shadow from the clock that used to be there. I really tried for about 30 minutes to make this work, but it just doesn’t.
For the amount of money they’re asking for this, it should be far more intuitive and actually work. This is a hard avoid for now.

I’m really sorry this didn’t work the way it should have. Calendarly does need a few setup steps because of how iOS handles wallpapers and Shortcuts, and unfortunately I can’t make all of that happen in one tap. I’ve tried to make the setup as clear as I can, and I also left a few places in the app where you can contact me directly if something is unclear or not working. If you’d like to try again, please email me at support@getcalendarly.com. I’d be happy to help you personally and figure out why your calendars and reminders weren’t showing.

So Many Customizations Locked Behind Paywall

Was one of the first to try this app. Loved it at first! Then, after a recent update, my layouts became stuck behind a paywall. Can’t customize your background without paying. Would love to see more from having a free version. And if the dev is going state that the first 1000 get early access privileges, they should stick to their word. If positive changes come, I will update this review.

I’ve just released a new version, and if you installed Calendarly before February 18, you should now have full access permanently. The built-in backgrounds are free for everyone too. Paywall updates..

Downloaded as soon as I saw the dev posting the Reddit. Worked well but of course, too good to be true as they’ve moved to an overpriced subscription model and hindering any usefulness on the “free”. Was fun while it lasted but deleting now

Useful but overpriced

It’s a good app but I think both the yearly subscription and the one off cost is far to expensive for what you get

Overly priced and new update took away features

The new update took away status line editor, put daily schedule & agenda templates behind a paywall lock that was supposedly free features for first 1000 users (I’m one of them) & now showing a watermark. Also, the price of the app is absurdly high! I would never pay if the developer switches strategies like this.

In the latest update we actually expanded the functionality available in the free version, and the watermark has been completely removed from the app. I’m also continuing to adjust things based on feedback from users. Surprisingly useful

Didn’t think I’d actually use this every day, but I do. I’m constantly checking my schedule, and now it’s just there on my Lock Screen. Setup was quick, and once it’s done you don’t think about it anymore. Simple idea, but surprisingly helpful.

The new update took away my preset and asks to pay

It was a nice app until everything got under paywall. So, I deleted it, since it’s no different than other similar apps.

Hi, I’m really sorry your preset was removed, that was caused by an issue in the recent update and was not intentional. If you downloaded the app before February 15th, you should still have access to all original features from the first version. Only customization of the two new layouts is part of the Pro upgrade. If something isn’t working correctly, please contact me directly and I’ll make sure it’s resolved. Thank you for trying the app, and I’m sorry for the frustration.

Calendarly is an absolute gem! I’ve only been using the app for a few days, and it already feels like home. I’m genuinely impressed by how well-designed and user-friendly it is. The interface is intuitive, everything runs smoothly without glitches, and the setup takes just minutes. The functionality truly saves hours every week.
