Here in Calgary we have a hockey team, the Flames, that are perpetual losers, and a winning Pro Soccer team, The Cavalry.
The winning team gets minimal recognition in the Herald while the Flame articles get into the minutiae of the player’s lives.

I've always like to read the paper every morning, since I was a kid. Reading it on my iPad on this app was always a pleasure. Recently this app wouldn't refresh my subscription in a timely manner, I was halfway done my coffee before today's paper *might* be ready to read. And then it started showing a whole bunch of newspapers, instead of just The Calgary Herald! But anyways after I deleted the app and reinstalled it, it started behaving again.

Unfortunately no longer loads reliably and now ads?
I've always liked to read the paper every morning, since I was a kid. Reading it on my iPad on this app was always a pleasure. But lately this app won't refresh my subscription in a timely manner, I'm halfway done my coffee before today's paper *might* be ready to read. And now I see an advertisement on the home screen before I even *get* to the newspaper! Also, now it shows a whole bunch of newspapers, instead of just The Calgary Herald! If I wanted all those other papers, I'd download a different app. So, I can no longer recommend this app to read The Calgary Herald each morning. Instead, I have to suggest the web browser epaper view, or maybe you'd rather to subscribe to the physical paper copy like it's 1995.

Poor sports coverage
Compare the Herald sports section with the Winnipeg Free Press. No standings schedules or generally poor coverage.
Constant crashes
In the last 3 weeks, this app just continuously crashes on my iPad Air 4th gen, and my iPhone 15 Pro max. Both running the latest Apple OS versions. Clearly there's a bad bug in this version that the developer has been very sluggish in fixing.

Navigation needs work
The swiping gesture seems to be poorly implemented. I can’t count the number of times I have swiped up in order to scroll down on a page, only for the app to advance to the next page instead. Frustrating.
Don Braid
His regular front page biased opinions reflect poorly on this newspaper. His ilk push former loyal subscribers to alternative media where objective and accurate reporting exists.
Poor update
Latest version of app does not report correct date of issue, particularly for Monday paper. Previous version was much better.
New format
Basically hate new format!
Stale dated news articles, weekend edition poor compared to previous format. New “funnies” page dreadful. Seriously considering cancelling subscription!

Why bother ?
Hard to believe this Newspaper remains in business. Poor communication. Update failures. Non Delivery is their standard.
Hard to read
Very difficult to read e papers - always fiddling with article sizes. Not designed for ease in reading on a small screen. Poor
App Won’t Update
Will not update to V4.11.11 from 4.11.9 no matter what I do. Got the most recent IOS on iPad so what gives? My wife’s iPad updated to 4.11.11 and mine, a newer model, will not update no matter what.
Update reminder
I like the format. But keep getting an update reminder. Click update and it does not update my iPad.
No App Support
I started getting notices of an app upgrade a couple of years ago and each time I received the notice I attempted the upgrade. Didn’t matter what I did including deleting the app it wouldn’t upgrade. Contacted support months ago. Still no upgrade. This is the only app that I am unable to upgrade. Why have an app if you don’t support it properly.

Comments won’t open
The comments for each article often don’t open when you click on the bubble with the number of comments listed. Occasionally it will work but more often than not, it won’t. I have the latest version of the app. Quite frustrating
