Works with calibre 9
For anyone looking, the app has recently been taken over by a new developer and I can confirm it works now with calibre 9 — specifically I have my library in iCloud Drive, and everything does sync in and is accessible without issue.
I would love a bit more customizability with the viewing options, but this does do everything in terms of displaying the library and being able to filter and download books without needing my computer on and running the content server in order to access my books on another device with all the metadata attached.

Now being supported again, great news excellent app. A must have if you have Calibre.

The new update is working for me as of this writing! Syncing worked without any hiccups. I just can’t seem to keep the Important Notice from showing up every launch. Love this app!

The new update from the new dev is a lie. The new calibre database 9+ doesn’t work. If/when it does I’ll change my review.

Essential app for Calibre users
This is such a useful app. I love it. As Calibre doesn’t run on my iPad this is essential me as I can search my Dropbox Calibre library, download any book I want to read on the iPad, and even search with Calibre’s full text search. Got message when starting the app today that the app has a new developer. I hope he or she will continue to maintain and enhance the app.

Mit dem Update auf Version 6.7.0 funktioniert Calibre Sync nun auch wieder mit den aktuellen Calibre Versionen 9.x. Vielen Dank an den neuen Entwickler.

What’s happened? Database error doesn’t work now
Love the app but suddenly it doesn’t work on either iPad or iPhone - just giving a database error. I really hope this gets fixed.

Update: Calibre version 9 bricked it, if you absolutely rely on this app stay on the latest version of 8, doesn’t look like anyone’s seen a developer response for a fix in a few weeks now. Brilliant 5 star app, really hoping the dev returns to it.
There’s a few things I’ve learned in all my time spent meticulously curating, indexing, and cataloging my library through calibre and one of those is that certain file types, regardless of what you assign them in Calibres own metadata fields, do not hold certain types of metadata. So PDFs (and irritatingly enough, CBR/Zs) aren’t capable of being organised by series in e-readers. They also struggle with cloud syncing in the way that while they sync physical files, they won’t just show what you have in your cloud for download, and they certainly don’t keep that organised either.
CalibreSync completely solves these issues by not only mirroring your calibre library the way you’ve designed it, but also by making your collection viewable and searchable without needing physical copies of the files on your device (via cloud syncing), and downloadable on demand, whilst still being able to scroll through them all in an easily accessible catalogue of your own design. You can even open your books from here into your chosen e-reader. This is exactly the type of app I needed, and well worth the payment.

In spite of a number of emails to the developer received no response

Malheureusement, j’ai un message d’erreur depuis environ 15 jours et les nouveaux libres ne sont plus synchronisés. J’ai vu que d’autres utilisateurs avaient les mêmes problèmes mais les solutions proposées sont trop techniques pour moi. J’espère que l’appli sera mise rapidement à jour.

Das war mal eine sehr gute App, für die ich sogar gezahlt habe. Leider funktioniert sie mit der aktuellen Datenbankversion von Calibre nicht mehr und der Support reagiert nicht. Schade!
