Better then a Road Angel

The best!!!!

I’ve been a Road Angel user for many years and I would never cancel the subscription.

However I forgot about this app, not used it for maybe 10-15 years.

You must download and update or it won’t work and show you stuff thats old.

Took the plunge and its good, better then the road angel!

I’ve read all the non 5* reviews, ignore them!

Nice to have back, everyone should have this app.

Top notch app

I have an inbuilt sat nav in my VW Golf, which unfortunately won't let me use Pocketgpsworld's database, so I have this running on my iPhone in the background, and it hasn't missed a camera yet! 👍👍👍👍👍👍 My iPhone is now telling me that this app will NOT work with the next iOS update as it's a 32 bit app, and only 64 bit apps will be supported. Pleeeeeeese! update this app, I really couldn't be without it.
UPDATE: 01.06.24. It’s a long time since my original review, and I just had to update it as I’m now using it with a new iPhone 15 Pro on the latest Beta iOS 17 version.
The app continues to work admirably even though it’s been left on the shelf for so long. I’ve not encountered any problems at all, and I have it running in the background whilst using Google or Apple Maps on Carplay. The database is updated on a regular basis, at least once to twice a week, so there must still be a lot of individuals reporting cameras.
I’ve subscribed to several other ‘so called’ camera detectors, and NONE are a patch on this one. I can honestly say I’ve not passed a camera position, be it fixed or mobile that CamerAlert has not warned me of.
It will be a sad day if/when this app does stop working, but I just hope that time is a long way off yet!
Long Live CamerAlert!
UPDATE 21.6.25 Still the BEST camera detector available, and works fine on my iPhone 15 Pro now with iOS 18.6 Beta1. Regular updates using members uploaded data hasn’t missed a camera yet. All credit to the guys maintaining this app.

Problems with display

Just moved to iPhone 15 and the average speed box when travelling through average speed camera zones is behind the “floating island” so you can’t see it

Still works as described.

I’ve seen a few comments saying this app doesn’t work. They’re wrong. I use it almost every day, I still get alerts sent by Bluetooth to my car. The database is still updated weekly. It may not be quite as up to date as it used to be due to the reduced user base but it’s still very good.

The app may be five years old but it works and it works well. I’m not saying it couldn’t do with an update as there are still a few bugs, such as it going to sleep if you’re stationary for a while but it DOES work satisfactorily.

FAQ

What does CamerAlert do?

CamerAlert is a driving assistance app that provides audible and visual warnings as you approach speed and red light camera locations. It uses directional information to ensure you are only alerted to cameras relevant to your direction of travel and can display your average speed for SPECs cameras.

What are the key features of CamerAlert?

Key features include audible and visual alerts for speed and red light cameras, directional warnings to reduce false alerts, average speed display for SPECs cameras, and two distinct modes: Map view showing cameras on a map and List view displaying nearby cameras with details like type, distance, and direction. It also supports multitasking with other navigation apps.

How much does CamerAlert cost?

The app itself is free to install and includes a demo speed camera database. To ensure you have the latest camera data, a free trial subscription is offered, after which you will need to subscribe for updates. In-app subscriptions are available for one month (£3.99), three months (£8.99), or twelve months (£19.99).

What are the compatibility requirements for CamerAlert?

CamerAlert requires a minimum of iOS 9.0. It supports iPhone 3G, 4 & 4S, and all iPad 3G models. It will not function on non-3G iPads or iPod Touch devices unless an Apple-approved GPS receiver accessory is used. Map mode requires a data connection, but List mode can be used without data.

How can I get the most out of CamerAlert's notifications?

For better notifications, go to your iPhone's main settings, select Notifications, then choose CamerAlert. Select the 'Alert' notification type instead of the default 'Banner' type. This will keep a blue pop-up on screen until you have passed the camera, unlike the 'Banner' which vanishes after two seconds.
