About

Wave is how Berkeley meets up — right now, in real life. Post what you're doing: grabbing coffee near Moffitt, looking for a study partner, starting a pickup game, or just open to meeting someone new. Your post goes live on the campus map for 30 or 60 minutes. Students nearby wave at it. You see who they are and how many minutes' walk away they are. Accept a wave and a meetup starts: a private chat opens, your exact spot is shared with that one person, and a timer counts down their walking time — so plans actually happen instead of dissolving into "maybe later." MADE FOR MEETING, NOT MESSAGING • Solo or group posts — meet one person, or host a few. Group hosts get a separate chat and timer per person; guests never see each other. • Walk-time timers — the meetup window is built from real walking distance, with up to three 10-minute extensions when you're almost there. • "We met" — both tap it when you connect. If the timer runs out, Wave checks in instead of assuming the worst. • Privacy by default — the map only ever shows your approximate area. Your exact spot is revealed only to someone you've accepted, and only while the meetup is live. • Berkeley-verified — every account is verified with a @berkeley.edu email. No anonymous strangers, no bots. • Safety built in — block or report from anywhere; blocking ends any meetup between you instantly. No swiping. No follower counts. Chat exists to get you to the same table. Wave is currently exclusive to UC Berkeley students.

What's New in CampusWave

1.0.1

September 7, 2026

wave is now live on campus. posting works across UC Berkeley and the student blocks around it (Southside, Downtown, Northside, Clark Kerr), the map opens on campus and stays there, and if you're off campus you'll see a clear heads-up instead of a mystery error. plus small fixes to keep waves, chats, and meetups smooth.
