About

Canary is Minesweeper built as a roguelite. The logic puzzle you already know, with a scoring engine that compounds, relics that rewrite the rules, and two fixes for the things that always made Minesweeper unfair. THE DESCENT Nine fields stand between you and daylight, each with a score target higher than the last. Beat the target and you go deeper. Miss it and the run is over. Every third field is a boss with a rule of its own: numbers hidden until something beside them is open, flags rationed to a handful, a mult that starts at half. YOUR FIRST TAP IS ALWAYS SAFE The mines are laid after you tap, never within one square of it. Your opening move always opens a cascade. No coin-flip first click, ever. A WRONG GUESS COSTS NERVE, NOT THE RUN Minesweeper's oldest flaw is the forced fifty-fifty late in a board — the moment where reading the numbers can't save you and a coin decides whether twenty minutes was wasted. Here, striking a mine costs a point of nerve. The field goes on. That turns an unfair death into a price you can choose to pay, and it makes the moment you decide to guess the most interesting decision in the game. THE SCORING Every square you open scores chips times your mult, and a square pays for the danger it sat beside — a 5 is worth far more than a blank. Every reveal raises the mult for the rest of the field. The chain never breaks; it only climbs. THE PEDDLER Clear a field, earn coins, spend them between fields. Twenty-seven relics rewrite the maths: more chips on deep numbers, a steeper chain, another point of nerve, a lamp that burns off the fog. You can hold six, and sell any of them back. SIX FIELDS, NINE BOSSES, FIVE PATHS From the forty-eight squares of The Shallows to the hundred and twenty-six of The Blackdamp, with mine density climbing to just under classic expert. Five paths with asymmetric starts — the Quartermaster's heavy purse, the Nightwatch's spare wick, the Magpie's two free relics and no undos. Four difficulty tiers on top. All of it earned by playing. MADE TO RESPECT YOU • Pay once. No ads, no in-app purchases, nothing money can unlock. • Fully offline. No account, no sign-in, no internet required. • Your run autosaves every move. Take the phone call. • Chording, flag mode, and limited undo — the tools you already expect. • Bespoke iPad layout, not a stretched phone screen. • Never interrupts your own music. One more field. The lamp is still lit.
