Free but practically speaking it requires payment

The design is reasonable but it’s clear that the dev bends over backwards to require payment for this app. For example, don’t dare to close the app in the middle of a game, it won’t save your scores… I guess you need to pay for that part…

Please add opening ranges for Hand and Foot Canasta

Please add ranges for Hand and Foot and points for special hands in American canasta. Points and special hands should be modified by the player

Otherwise I enjoy the app.

Problem with hosting a connection

I purchased the $4.99 and $.99 versions of the app and cannot host a game. The screen is frozen and will not scroll to allow other players to join a connection.

Seems fine

I bought the unlock right away, only to find out I could adjust the rules to the way we play. Very disappointed.

Response from developer

The two in-app purchases are clearly defined within Canasta Score Keeper and are also explained in the App’s Welcome Screens (“Permanent Storage/Ad removal” and “Connect to nearby devices”). Storing personal rules for scoring is already available in the free version, which makes us think you might be confusing Canasta Score Keeper with another App. If that is the case, we would appreciate if you could adjust/remove your rating for our App.

Doesn’t save???

It’s a good score keeper however it doesn’t save when you close the app?? So then you have to re-entrer all your scores. Bit of a stupid feature I think.

Response from developer

As highlighted in the Welcome Screens (and actually every time you open the App 😉), the free version does not support permanent storing of games/scores. The in-App purchases “Store Permanently and no Ads!” will enable this feature and also bring back previously (unsaved) games. Data is permanently stored when closing/reopening the App as long as the App is not completely uninstalled from your iPhone. If this solves your problem, we would appreciate if you would adjust your rating.

Player 2

Nice presentation. For a seasoned player looking to replace paper it misses the spot.
I would like it to show base shore and then enter total count.

Great app

Overall, this is a great app. But one suggestion…

I love that you can choose to just enter the score number. Or to click on each card rank to tally the score. But I would live a third option that would be in between.

I’d love to be able to just click if a person has won the round, and how many red threes they have. But then enter the total points melded. To me, that seems to be the easiest way to enter information.

Other than that, your app is great. Best canasta score app out there.

Love it!!!

We play Canasta a lot and we‘ve been trying out quite a few apps so far to help with counting points and keeping the score. I have to say that this app is probably the best I‘ve seen so far, it simply does what it’s supposed to do and we are using it regularly since a few months now. There any many settings that allow to play slightly different Canasta variants and the UI is just really neat! I recently went for the in-App purchase and it is worth every penny to me as we love keeping track of previous games or just continue playing unfinished games at a later point. I can really recommend to everyone who loves playing Canasta in person!

Support site no longer exits

I could not figure out if you can change the number of decks (it doesn’t appear so). I went to contact support, but the site no longer exists. I don’t know if this is a temporary issue or if the site is just gone. The scoring seems to work as long as you don’t use more than 2 decks, otherwise it cannot automatically score.

Response from developer

Thank you for your review. We apologies for the problems encountered with our support site, which has moved to a different location in the meantime. The Support URL has now been updated on the app store and we can always be reached on canastascorekeeper@gmail.com. Regarding your question about the number of supported card decks: Our app was designed to play Canasta in person with two decks of cards (2 x 52 cards + 4 Joker), so unfortunately there is currently no way to change this in the settings. We feel this is a good idea for a future enhancement though and will potentially add it to our development roadmap.

Nice interface but buggy

There are some bugs that need work. For example you can’t change the value of black threes. The system gives you an error saying the value needs to be positive.
